A Cook Strait ferry customer believes he could be sleeping in his car for a week after large numbers of covid-affected forced the cancellation of sailings.

We donโ€™t know when that will be or if weโ€™ll get priority to be on the first ferry.โ€ Our bustling capital newsroom published nearly 3800 stories in the past year on this city, wind, hail, horizontal rain or shine. The Interislander deleted its passenger services for March 6 because about 55 crew members are sick or self-isolating.

Interislander resumes sailing after Covid-19 halt to service (RNZ)

The Interislander passenger ferry will sail tonight after earlier trips were cancelled due to 55 staff contracting covid-19 or isolating.

About 900 passengers were booked to travel between Picton and Wellington, but two sailings were cancelled because there were not enough specialist staff to crew them. Without enough specialist staff to crew them, two sailings today were called off. The Interislander passenger ferry will sail tonight after earlier trips were cancelled due to 55 staff contracting covid-19 or isolating.
