'Past trying to develop players': Fed-up Warriors coach drops truth bomb on team.

“We’ve got some talented young players, they need to understand the consequences of not getting it right... “Whether or not you deserved to win ... you get the ball with no one in front of you, you catch and put it down and score. Not good enough if you want to win games,” Brown said in the post-match press conference. They took everything they created, credit to them. Not a good enough start.” It was not acceptable.

Warriors come up empty in trademark defeat (New Zealand Herald)

It will add to the pressure on the Auckland team, though this was at least an improvement on their opening-round effort. They were edged 20-18 by the Gold Coast ...

But the Warriors finally started to play functional football and were rewarded, with two tries in five minutes to end the half. Facing another 12-0 deficit, the Warriors started to get going. Another signature Fonua-Blake bullocking run had gained great position, before a cheap penalty gifted possession and Greg Marzhew easily got on the outside of Marcelo Montoya. They will rue another poor start and a catalogue of first-half errors that gifted the Titans momentum and depleted their own petrol. Reece Walsh had a mixed game on his return, while Ash Taylor made a steady, if not spectacular debut. The Warriors tried to respond but couldn't build any pressure, hampered by constant errors.

Gold Coast coach Justin Holbrook believes his team has discovered the resilience to hang tough in NRL matches after Saturday's 20-18 win over the Warriors.

"Not good enough if you want to win games. "It was great to have AJ back," Holbrook said. AJ Brimson's second try assist in his first game as a full time NRL five-eighth allowed Phillip Sami to get the Titans' back in front in the 57th minute.

Brimson returns in style as Titans edge past Warriors (NRL.COM)

The return of AJ Brimson sparked the Titans to a 20-18 win over the Warriors in an entertaining Saturday afternoon clash at Cbus Super Stadium.

Again not acceptable, not now with where we want to be as a football club." We need that willingness to defend ... we were on our line a lot and we kept hanging in there, we just scrambled." "I don't think we won a tight game last year so I think it's great and in particular a credit to our forwards through the pre-season getting themselves in a better spot to be able to work harder. A good effort to get back into the game and then hit the front like we did last week but then we had two young outside backs drop the ball with the line wide open just purely and simply because they didn't get deep enough. Then with 22 minutes to play Brimson stepped up again to deliver a sweetly timed pass to Philip Sami for score to put the home side back in front. After missing round one with a groin niggle, Brimson exploded out of the blocks and had the home crowd in a frenzy ... those who had found their seats anyway.
