Finch's Aussie trainwreck laid bare; Ashes hero's ODI stunner as Marnus struggles: Player ratings.

A quiet series for Green. He performed well in the first ODI with a quickfire, unbeaten 40 but struggled to find his feet in the final two matches. Swepson couldn’t back up that performance in the second ODI as Australia failed to defend 348 while he was replaced by Behrendorff for the final match. Didn’t take on a big load with the ball, but he was economical across the first two matches. Australia needed him to bat with the tail for longer, although it’s unlikely that a matchwinning total could have been salvaged. McDermott was one of Australia’s most consistent performers in the series, passing 35 in all three innings including a maiden ODI century in the second match. After scoring 23 in the first ODI, he faced just four balls in the final two matches and made a pair of ducks.

Women's Cricket World Cup final: England to face Australia (Sky News)

Play in New Zealand is due to start from 2am on Sunday UK time. England beat South Africa in the semi-finals after finishing third in the group.

Standing in the way of England are the Australians, who have been in good form since 2018. The 31-year-old has played almost 200 white ball games for England and her experience in the top order will be important for England. However, she was the leading run-scorer and player of the tournament in 2017 and was named ICC women's T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2021 in January. The 31-year-old averages 15 fewer runs with the bat than she did in 2017 but her two highest scores - 53 not out and 42 - came in important wins against New Zealand and India. She has since posted three more scores of 40 or more during the World Cup and has taken four wickets and four catches. England were not embarrassed in any of the losses, though, with narrow defeats by Australia, West Indies and South Africa.

With England we're more used to knockout cricket than Australia (The Guardian)

All-rounder says England's experience of pressure and the 2017 Lord's win will help her team in the World Cup final.

I remember that when we first got told that this trip was going to happen, an Ashes directly followed by a World Cup, we were worried – were we going to be able to get through it OK? And we’ve all had our emotional days, and days where we haven’t been in a great place, but for the most part we have been OK. I’ve missed my dog the most – cuddling her on the sofa. For me, whatever happens in the final, we’ve done brilliantly well from the position that we were in to get here. That match was a clean slate against them after the Ashes loss, and it’s the one that sticks in our minds – we were able to go toe to toe with them but just couldn’t get over the line. Australia went out in the semis of the last World Cup so didn’t get to experience that amazing day at Lord’s. We’re defending champions, and having that experience of playing in the 2017 final will definitely help us against them. All the chat’s been to keep trusting each other, keep trusting ourselves, keep doing the things that we’ve been doing for a really long time. It seems crazy that England haven’t played Australia in a World Cup final since 1988 – since I’ve been playing, it’s always been us two at the top, competing for that top spot, so it feels like a natural final for this competition.

Ecclestone emerges from ashes of an Aussie hiding (cricket.com.au)

Thumped by Australia's batters all summer long, England's Sophie Ecclestone has found form at the right time to present a new worry for Meg Lanning's ...

"We know that it's going to be tough, England always provide a great contest … it's going to be a massive challenge for us, and certainly not going to be easy, but we feel confident that if we can put out as close to our best as possible, then that will give us a good chance." "We feel like we've been building throughout the tournament and we've got a really good game plan and also the skill sets within the team to be able to deliver, but it comes down to what happens tomorrow. "It's a huge honour to play that many games for your country, I feel very lucky to be able to do it and for it to be in a World Cup final is great ... but ultimately it comes down to the game tomorrow and trying to try to win that game," Lanning. "We feel like we've got some good plans in place to be able to combat that, but it's going to be hard work and a really good contest and we're excited by that." "I'll certainly be doing my best to try and contribute to that win." "She's done a remarkable job to turn it around and I know, knowing Soph, that with the start she had against Australia, I'll know that she'll want to be the one to really dominate and really perform."

Aussie bogeymen fire Pakistan to long-awaited ODI series win (cricket.com.au)

Babar Azam and Imam ul-Haq once again dominant with Australia's stumble against the new ball proving decisive in third ODI defeat in Lahore.

They posted just 210, the lowest total of a 50-over series characterised by overwhelmingly batter-friendly Gaddafi Stadium surfaces. With his side inserted by Babar for a third straight match, Head's strong batting form in his return to the 50-over side ended abruptly and bizarrely on the first ball of the match as he was clean bowled by a Shaheen full toss. In a month of cricket dominated by batters, Pakistan's dream start with the ball was as surprising as it was series-defining.

"Coming into this final, we know that they're going to be coming out at us really hard. Different people have been standing up at different times, which I think holds us in good stead." Australia vs England, Women’s World Cup 2022 Final Live Cricket Score: Australia's opening pair Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes have provided their side with a steady start after being invited to bat first by England in the ICC Women's World Cup final at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The pair have so far added 68 runs for the opening wicket after 15 overs and are looking in fine touch. Australia scripted an unbeaten run to reach their seventh World Cup final while England lost their first three games, including their opener against Australia by 12 runs, which left them on the verge of elimination, but a five-match winning streak, including the semi-final win against South Africa, worked in their favour as the defending champions made their sixth World Cup final. England have lost the final twice in five appearances while Australia have lost just once.

Healy smashes record books in unbelievable knock (cricket.com.au)

Alyssa Healy put Australia in a dominant position in the World Cup final, striking 26 boundaries on her way to a brilliant 170.

The large, mostly neutral crowd at Hagley Oval rose to their feet as the 32-year-old strode from the ground, having taken her run tally for the tournament to 509 – a remarkable finish after she had 210 runs to her name at the end of the round-robin phase. Her opening partner Rachael Haynes had broken the record for most runs at a women's World Cup earlier in the innings, but her 497 was also left for dust as Healy raced past 500. Karen Rolton's record high score for a women's World Cup final, her 107 not out against India in 2005, was reeled in and still Healy's relentless attack continued.
