Join us as we watch the 64th Academy Awards on Sunday night, and follow along for live updates and analysis of the award winners and best performances.

Unsurprisingly, “Folklore” won album of the year at last year’s Grammys, and if “Evermore” repeats the feat this year, it’ll make 2022 feel like 2021, but also like 2020, potentially cinching pandemic spacetime into a Gordian knot from which we may never be released: Taylortime, all the time, evermore, for real. Improving inclusivity is a noble and essential goal for the Recording Academy, but Grammy night is fundamentally about prestige — and the only way to transform something inherently exclusive into something more inclusive is by inviting new people and dismissing the same-olds. The idea here is that “bigger” means “more inclusive,” which doesn’t really make sense.

Join The Times' music team live from Las Vegas as we break down the 64th Grammy Awards, from the biggest winners to the most talked-about performances.

Batiste, best known for being bandleader on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” leads the Grammys field with 11 nominations in categories including R&B, jazz, American roots music, music video, classical and music for visual media. “I feel like this category in of itself is has been so insane — Burna Boy, Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Angelique Kidjo? I mean, should this be called best world music performance? 1:54 p.m. Jon Batiste won his second and third Grammys of the day, taking home American Roots performance and song for “Cry.” Batiste’s co-writer Steve McEwan accepted the award for Roots song. I feel like it should be called, like, Yacht Party category.” “These things aren’t really important, until you win one,” he joked. Later tonight, Batiste will compete for album of the year for his “We Are” and record of the year for “Freedom.” —RR “Everybody at Rhino who made the package so beautiful. Mitchell, who suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015, received a standing ovation from the audience while taking the stage with her physical therapist. His only loss was to Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette and Gonzalo Rubalcaba for jazz instrumental album.—Craig Marks “Much thanks to the Academy for this nomination and win, I didn’t expect this,” she said, before thanking the long list of names who helped her put the project together. 2:32 p.m. Fresh off being named Person of the Year at Friday’s Musicares event, Joni Mitchell was on hand to accept the award for best historical album for “Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 1, the Early Years 1963-1967.” While Gomez’s Spanish-language “Revelación” was an enticing genre shift for the pop star, the Afro-Cuban jazz artist Cuba was well-established in the genre and a multiple Latin Grammy winner.

Nominees BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga descended on Sin City for the 2022 Grammys. Here's how they fared with their performances.

The K-pop wunderkinds oozed charm as they delivered an exuberant take on “Butter,” gliding across the stage in black tuxedos and paying homage to everything from “Ocean’s Eleven” to “Mission: Impossible” as they flicked playing cards and evaded lasers in suave Vegas style. And we couldn’t help but swoon as member V playfully cozied up to Rodrigo at the top of the number. The 19-year-old pop-punk breakout is already a Grammy winner going into Sunday’s telecast, picking up her first award for best pop solo performance (for debut single “Driver’s License”) hours before the show.

Grammy awards 2022: Olivia Rodrigo wins big and Ukraine's ... (The Guardian)

The specter of Oscars chaos loomed over the music awards – a mega-concert which included a message of hope from the Ukrainian president.

Jon Batiste closed the evening with, fittingly, a celebration of music for album of the year. In a self-conscious nod to the Academy’s reputational woes – which has led artists such as the Weeknd and Frank Ocean to snub the awards entirely – new president Harvey Mason Jr promised “at the new Recording Academy, we serve music” in a video message. “I believe this to my core: there is no best musician, best artist, best dancer, best actor,” he said. Amid all the music, there were a handful of lighthearted speeches. “We are really trying our hardest to remain humble at this point,” Anderson .Paak quipped. “The silence of ruined cities and killed people. The remembrance kicked off the night’s In Memoriam segment: Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt, Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo, Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr and West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler sang a medley of songs by the late musical theater titan Stephen Sondheim, who died last November at 91. A week after one of the most chaotic Oscars in recent memory – during which Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage – the Grammys seemed to revel in its technical proficiency and lack of controversy. They sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who can’t hear them. In his second year as executive producer of the Grammys, taking over after Ken Ehrlich’s 40-year tenure, Ben Winston mostly allowed individual artists to shine. There’s nobody who could use a little hope right now more than the people of Ukraine.” “The war.

Grammys 2022: 12 things to know, from slap jokes to one surprising ... (The Washington Post)

The 2022 Grammy Awards were light on surprises (except one) but had performances from Lady Gaga, Silk Sonic, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS and more.

When their names were called, SZA made it to the stage solo with the help of crutches (and a dress assist from fellow nominee Gaga) while Doja Cat rushed in from off-camera. There was a lot going on in Lady Gaga’s frenzied tribute to her good pal and singing partner Tony Bennett — and not all of it good. Plenty of her contemporaries went home with less, but Rodrigo was seen as the ascendant star heading into the night and had good odds of being anointed by the Recording Academy as a big deal to be reckoned with at future ceremonies. The Recording Academy really likes Silk Sonic. The duo that is Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak opened the show with a tune apt for the Las Vegas setting: “777,” an ode to Sin City and the promise of winning big. The pair went on to win in four categories — song of the year, record of the year, best R&B song and, in a tie with Jazmine Sullivan, best R&B performance — all for their soulful single “Leave the Door Open.” The romantic track, from the pair’s debut album “An Evening With Silk Sonic,” was notably introduced at last year’s ceremony. But as The Washington Post’s pop music critic Chris Richards said, “It is power-to-the-people music that the people can listen to at brunch.”

It was a crazier getup than anything he wore in House of Gucci, and he read his Best Pop Vocal Album speech in the same cadence as someone delivering a hostage video, complete with a dead-on-arrival joke about agents. The fact that he was completely (and absurdly) shut out in the five categories he was nominated in only seemed to reaffirm his status as one of modern pop’s spiciest provocateurs. As the heartbeat of the music in the Disney Pixar film Soul and the bandleader of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jon Batiste is undeniably gifted. The Grammys as a whole already deserved a “worst” half a year ago when they announced a number of questionable nominations for artists who have been accused of problematic behavior. If you’re gonna stalk your ex, you typically don’t want to get out of your car and wake up the neighborhood by belting a song literally about stalking your ex. The Grammy censors weren’t quick enough to catch Doja Cat when she admitted to having just returned from a remarkably fast “piss” to grab her award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with SZA for “Kiss Me More,” hilariously adjusting the crotch of her garment and all. In fairness, the In Memoriam segment is always a challenge, especially during a year in which we lost massive figures such as Ronnie Spector, Charlie Watts, Meat Loaf, Vicente Fernández, and Taylor Hawkins. But come on, folks — some of these were flat-out careless. Last year, BTS joined the Grammys live from a rooftop in Seoul, proving that “Dynamite” is simply too catchy to be bounded by the traditional rules of time and space. Not even pouring rain — or the fact that she would walk away with zero trophies among the seven she was nominated for, an egregious shutout given the year she had — could ruin the good time she was having on top of a prop mobile home as she belted, “Just leave me aloooo-ho-ho-hone.” But she didn’t lose herself completely; she still remembered to hold up her T-shirt, repping late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, sharing in her triumph. The fact that J Balvin was the only Latin artist to lead a performance on the main stage was beyond embarrassing, especially since the telecast skipped all the Latin categories this year. The repeat Best Pop Duo/Group Performance nominees went full Mission: Impossible this time for “Butter,” starting with an elaborate framing device that involved lasers, computers, and a priceless moment in the audience between V and Olivia Rodrigo (quick, give them both Best Supporting Awards-Show Actor statues!) — and proceeding to remind us that BTS are quite possibly the seven sleekest-grooving, sharpest-dressed, most absurdly magnetic people on the planet. Seriously. We never need to read another word of commentary about the true meaning of the Slap, let alone hear a hacky joke about it at another awards show.

How Tyler Childers, Jack Harlow, Sturgill Simpson & Chris Stapleton ... (Courier Journal)

Kentucky natives Tyler Childers, Jack Harlow, Sturgill Simpson and Chris Stapleton were all up for Grammy Awards Sunday night. Here's how they did.

"So if Beth was falling in love I wrote music reflective of that," Rivera said after the awards. The rapper was also nominated last year. "I don't know how it is for everybody. "Or when she was engaged in a difficult competition I wrote to that situation, a lot easier than writing a score for a game of chess." This year, Harlow is nominated in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for his feature on pop star Lil Nas X's single "Industry Baby." Lil Nas X's album "Montero" is also up for Album of the Year, which gives Harlow another nomination as a featured artist and songwriter. The nominations add to a monumental year for Stapleton, who was named "Male Artist of the Year" at the Academy of Country Music Awards on March 7.

How to Livestream the 2022 Grammys (Vanity Fair)

Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, and BTS are among the performers on music's biggest night.

If you’re eager to get your awards-show Sunday started even earlier, Live From E!: Countdown to the Grammys airs at 4 p.m. E.T./1 p.m. P.T., featuring comedian Nikki Glaser and Grammy-nominated artist Ester Dean. As such, most categories will not be announced during the live telecast. This year’s telecast will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Other streaming options include Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DirectTV Stream, Sling TV, and FuboTV, most of which have free-trial options. Olivia Rodrigo and newly minted Oscar winner Billie Eilish, each up for seven awards, will perform. This year, the Recording Academy will be bestowing honors in a staggering 86 categories. (The full list of nominations can be found here.) Let’s be honest: We all view the Grammys as an unofficial concert. Two-time Grammy winner Lil Nas X, nominated in five categories, will take the stage, as will six-time Grammy winner Brandi Carlile, up for five awards of her own, and 12-time winner Lady Gaga, nominated for her latest record with Tony Bennett. Here’s how to livestream the 64th Grammy Awards. Those searching for their pre-show fashion fix can watch the Live From E!: Grammys red carpet coverage at 6 p.m. E. T./3 p.m. P.T., hosted by Laverne Cox and featuring Queer Eye’s Karamo, style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi, and pop culture commentator Naz Perez. Live From E! Stream: Grammys, begins at 7 p.m. E.T./4 p.m. P.T. on most of the E! social channels, YouTube, eonline.com, and the E! News app. Questions about the ceremony abound: Who will win best new artist? The 2022 Grammys air on Sunday, April 3, on CBS. Those with a cable subscription can watch the ceremony live on television at their local CBS affiliate, or online at cbs.com, or through the CBS app.

Grammys 2022: See All the Fuchsia Looks on the Red Carpet (Vanity Fair)

Justin Bieber, Saweetie, Travis Barker, and more stood out on the 2022 Grammys red carpet in bright fuchsia looks.

Bieber walked the Grammys red carpet with wife Hailey Bieber, sporting an oversized grey Balenciaga suit accessorized with a fuchsia beanie. From soft blush tones at the 94th annual Academy Awards to bold fuchsia, a popular color throughout Fashion Month and on the Grammys carpet. And while stars like Porter went for full, head-to-toe pink looks, Justin Bieber and Travis Barker decided to style their ensembles with pops of pink.
