Existing in a visual space between ethereal album art and a collection campaign, Grimes stars in the Spring Summer 2022 Dion Lee campaign.
Through sculptural tailoring, silicone wave lace, and lattice netting, the collection taps into silhouettes of the time while pushing forward into the future and giving over to fantasy. We never saw Dion Lee's Spring Summer 2021 collection last September, but we did see Fall Winter 2022 in February, and if his dystopian, futuristic Fall offering was anything to go off, Grimes makes a perfect muse. "I am de-gothing" says Grimes of her new look for her upcoming album, Book 1, and her new campaign for Dion Lee.
“Delete Forever became my existential anthem during the lockdown,” says Lee, “and it feels full-circle to be releasing this campaign in 2022. “Style is important,” says Grimes. It’s the understatement of the century from the multi-hyphenate musician and artist who has tailored her aesthetics to her musical, philosophical, and digital inclinations over the years. It’s this ability to so deftly transform—and evade easy definition—that makes Grimes such an interesting star to watch.
