Queen Elizabeth has left Windsor to spend her 96th birthday in Sandringham, a place that has special meaning to her. Barbie Gets a Queen Elizabeth Makeover to Mark The Platinum ... (TownandCountrymag.com)

A doll in the likeness of the Queen comes complete with royal jewels and adornments.

Nevertheless, the $75 doll is likely to prove popular with royal and Barbie collectors alike. If you look at those portraits or how she dresses for important events, she very much has a signature style and look—always a very simple design in white or ivory, which makes sense given that she must then wear all the accompanying jewelry and sash as befits her rank." A Barbie doll has been made in the Queen’s image as part of a tribute series which celebrates those who have made an impact and generated a legacy as trailblazers.

Aside from questions about the queen's health and the succession, the royals have rarely been off the newspaper front pages due to a succession of scandals. Her eldest son and heir, Prince Charles, has assumed more of his mother's responsibilities in preparation to take over the throne. The queen’s enforced retreat from public life in her Platinum Jubilee year has increased attention on the succession and the monarchy's future. A bout of Covid-19 in February left her "very tired and exhausted", she told doctors and patients at the Royal London Hospital during a virtual event earlier this month. It has been a troubled year for Britain's royal family, with concerns over the queen's health and questions over the future of the monarchy. Rounds will be fired from the Tower of London and Hyde Park in the British capital, where a military band will also play "Happy Birthday".

But the queen got an early birthday treat last week, when grandson Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, paid her a joint visit for the first time since they stepped away from frontline royal duties and moved to California in 2020. “She will no doubt have quite a lot of time to reflect on her happy times there with Prince Philip over the years. “She has a lot coming up in the next few months, so it absolutely makes sense that she enjoys her birthday quietly, privately at Sandringham,” Nash said. After recovering from a bout of COVID-19 earlier this year, the queen’s public appearances have been limited by unspecified “mobility issues.” Prince Andrew’s multi-million pound settlement with a woman who accused him of sexual exploitation also caused unwanted headlines for the royal family. While Thursday will be low-key, public celebrations will take place June 2-5, when four days of jubilee festivities have been scheduled to coincide with the monarch’s official birthday. Elizabeth is expected to spend the day at the estate’s Wood Farm cottage, a personal sanctuary where she also spent her first Christmas since Philip’s death in April 2021.

What is the lineage of Queen Elizabeth II? (ABC News)

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning monarch alive today, but at age 96, she is also the oldest monarch in history.

Edward VIII acceded to the throne at age 41 after the death of his father King George V. He was the second son of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra — their eldest son Albert died in 1892 from the flu. The crisis was resolved after his death from a series of heart attacks at the age of 68. In 1909, he was embroiled in a constitutional crisis when the Conservative majority refused to pass the Liberal government's budget in the House of Lords. When he became king, Edward VII changed the royal house to his father's name: the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He was the eldest son and second child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was the first monarch from the House of Hanover to be born in England. Her father died before she was born, and none of her uncles had children who were eligible to take the throne, making her first in line. Victoria was the only child of Prince Edward, the fourth son of King George III. George III came to the throne at age 22 upon the death of his grandfather George II. George I was the first monarch from the House of Hanover. She was the last of rulers from the House of Stuart.

Prince Andrew is the least popular option with only 13 per cent support, which is unsurprising given his involvement with prolific sex offender Jeffery Epstein and Andrew’s recent settling of a sexual abuse lawsuit. In fact, the poll found Her Majesty is well-loved — 63 per cent of Canadians have favourable views of the Queen. And Canadians will be sad to see her go, 59 per cent said they’ll be impacted by the Queen’s death. But there’s little appetite for a King Charles and Queen Camilla, only 29 per cent of Canadians would support them.

Six little-known facts about Queen Elizabeth's style (Page Six)

Bethan Holt, author of “The Queen: 70 years Of Majestic Style,” told PA Media the bags “have an extra-long 16-inch strap so they hang comfortably from her arm, they are lined in silk rather than suede, and over the past eight or nine years, they have been modified to be as light as possible for Her Majesty to carry.” She’s so dedicated to the look that Hermès launched a special style in honor of the Queen for her 90th birthday in 2016. “As has been reported a lot in the press, a flunky wears in Her Majesty’s shoes to ensure that they are comfortable and that she is always good to go,” Kelly wrote in her book, “The Other Side of the Coin,” adding, “and yes, I am that flunky.” Today, the Queen owns about 100 of the umbrellas in every color of the rainbow and her dresser, Angela Kelly, works with Fulton to have them custom-made to coordinate with her outfits. Queen Elizabeth II once said, “I have to be seen to be believed,” which is why you’ll see her wearing bright, solid-colored coats and matching hats at events; she can easily be spotted in a crowd, even for people standing far away. You’ll often see her in the same black style with a buckle at the front and a low 2.25-inch heel — and her dresser even breaks in fresh pairs for her boss.
