Macario leads Lyon to 3-2 win over PSG in Women's CL (The Washington Post)

It was her seventh goal in the competition this season. PSG knocked out Lyon in the quarterfinals on the away goals rule last year after Lyon beat PSG in the 2020 semifinals. PSG cut the lead to 3-2 in the 58th when Dudek scored from the penalty spot after Malard had handled the ball.

Dudek made up for her part in the blunder by coolly slotting home a penalty kick in the 58th minute, after a VAR check determined that the ball was handled inside the area by a Lyon defender. Things went from bad to worse for the goalkeeper in the second half, as Macario benefitted from another Votíková blunder in the 50th minute. However, the dream quickly turned into a nightmare for PSG goalkeeper Votíková, whose questionable decision-making led to two Lyon goals before the end of the first half.

Lyon 3-2 PSG: Women's Champions League semi-final first leg – as ... (The Guardian)

Catarina Macario notched a brace as Lyon came out 3-2 winners in a rollercoaster semi final first leg.

Buchanan is the culprit for Lyon, trying to overelaborate in the right-back position when Baltimore pounces, robs her of the ball and sends it to the feet of Katoto. The striker spins, waltzes around Renard and slides a cheeky finish inside Endler’s near post. Votikova mis-hits a goal kick straight to the feet of Hegerberg, who kills the ball with her first touch and plays in Macario with her second. For the sixth time in eight years, France’s big two lock horns in the knockout stages of the Women’s Champions League – and with as little to separate the sides as ever. 10 mins: That goal stands after a lengthy VAR check, presumably for offside, and from kickoff Lyon resume their position, camped inside the PSG half. 30 mins: Renard, in the thick of the action today, goes down with a knock after dispossessing Katoto at full stretch. PSG take the lead with their first proper attack of the game. Lyon have been the better side by a distance – aided by their opponents’ fretful defending – but PSG look dangerous every time they attack, with Katoto the standout player. She runs back to rectify the situation but Macario dispossesses her on the line and taps home to make it three. The ball rolls back to Votikova who – apparently worried about handling a potential backpass – gets caught in a moment of inexplicable indecision, ultimately doing nothing and leaving the ball to roll between her feet. 48 mins: A Lyon attack fizzles out when Hegerberg’s volleyed pass to Malard is just overhit. The ball is lumped up to Katoto, whose snapshot from the edge of the box zooms just over the bar. But the flag is up for offside.

Olympique Lyonnais made the most of some woeful goalkeeping by Barbora Votikova to beat Paris St Germain 3-2 at home in a lively women's Champions League ...

Hegerberg's soft first touch to collect a woeful goal kick by Votikova allowed her to set up Macario with a delightful through pass for Lyon's second goal in the 34th. Lyon, however, levelled through Renard, who slotted in a penalty after Melvine Malard was brought down by Votikova in the 23rd minute. Catarina Macario's double and a penalty by Wendie Renard, who became the first player to make 100 appearances in the competition, gave the seven-time champion a slight edge ahead of the return leg in Paris next Saturday.

First of all, the framing — that Conte has “offered himself” to PSG — is deeply weird and hilarious. But if there IS any truth to any of this, be prepared for an even more chaotic summer than last year. You can choose to believe what Gold is saying or not, but that’s the line coming out of the Tottenham camp. Conte certainly hasn’t made it easy on himself, both going out of his way — personally and through intermediaries — to say that he’s committed to the project while also giving plenty of veiled hints that he’d gladly bail if the club’s ambitions don’t match his own, or if a better job opens up. Yes! It’s kind of hard to compete with a club that has more money than sense, is desperate for trophies, and also currently employs Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. If accurate, this would be a continuation of the will-he-or-won’t-he stories that have dogged Conte while at Tottenham Hotspur since...

Ligue 1: PSG's record-tying 10th French title has bittersweet taste (The Indian Express)

Messi needed time to adapt in his first season in the French league after two decades in Spain, and still made a significant contribution with four goals ...

Supporters heavily booed PSG during a 3-0 win over Bordeaux in March, just a few days after PSG lost to Real Madrid 3-1 in the second leg of their last 16 tie. Wijnaldum has made only 17 starts in the club’s 34 league games. After the victory over Bordeaux, PSG supporters kept protesting at Parc des Princes by giving their team the silent treatment, refusing to back them with chants. The Argentine coach led PSG to a runner-up finish last season after replacing Thomas Tuchel in the winter. Sergio Ramos was also signed despite his last season at Real Madrid being marred by injuries. It was very complicated, like today.” The disconnect with supporters has been ongoing. But his man-management skills contributed to maintaining a certain unity in the dressing room despite cliques and huge egos. Neymar faced fitness issues at the start of the season then was sidelined by an ankle injury for more than two months. Kylian Mbappe didn’t have his shooting boots on against Lens, but he has been the driving force behind PSG’s latest title, leading the league with 22 goals and 14 assists. Catching Messi among other top signings last summer created considerable expectations of finally winning Europe’s biggest club title. Only Monaco in 2017 and Lille in 2021 were able to disrupt PSG’s triumphal march. We are normal people, we can have failures.” PSG striker Neymar also didn’t hold back.

PSG Feminine have been hit by controversy off the pitch yet are still in with a fighting chance of reaching the Champions League final.

It is a real appeal to the Paris people that I am making: we will need everyone to overturn this match and seek qualification.” It is understood Hamraoui has not faced any punishment from the club and the head coach, Didier Olle-Nicolle, will speak to the players on Monday morning. We can hate each other outside but on the field, we have to manage to win. Two months after the 6-1 defeat, PSG knocked Lyon out of the French Cup round of 16 in January. Hamraoui played the full 90 minutes and Diallo came on as a late substitute. Lyon are, however, now five points clear in the league and both teams have their eyes set on a Champions League final. Lyon had long reigned supreme on the domestic and international stage, winning a record 14 league and seven Champions League titles.

PSG vs. Lens live score, updates, highlights & lineups as Messi ... (Sporting News)

PSG can beat Marseille to the French Ligue 1 title when Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar & Co. face high-flying Lens at the Parc des Princes.

10th min.: PSG have a chance to swing a cross in from a free-kick near the penalty area on the left. The major news for PSG is the potential return to the starting XI of Neymar — he missed the Angers game through a ban — and Messi, sidelined for that match by an Achilles tendon injury. A foul is adjudged to have taken place as the delivery soars into the sky, and Lens are awarded a free-kick. The wideman shows his blistering pace to race clear on the right and enter the penalty area. Kimpembe shows fine timing a bravery to block the danger behind. His final touch on the run is perhaps a little heavy, giving him little choice but to shoot from a fairly acute angle, rather than cross for a teammate. Mbappe then almost finds space inside the penalty area with a delicate touch, but can't get a clear sight of goal. The seventh-placed side in Ligue 1 continue to pose a threat. Then Kimpembe tries a shot from outside the danger zone in a central area, and Danso blocks it away. 37th min.: A PSG corner from their left comes to nothing. PSG start on the front foot, perhaps suggesting that Pochettino has urged them to right the wrongs of the first half during the next 45 minutes. PSG have had 64 percent of the possession but as many shots on target as Lens: two.

Paris Saint-Germain secured a record equalling 10th Ligue 1 title after a 1-1 draw against Lens but many fans had already left.

Leipzig had beaten them on Wednesday by the same score thanks to Emil Forsberg’s stoppage-time winner. Danso picked up a second yellow card for a rough tackle on Neymar in the 57th minute. Inter’s fourth successive league win moved them on to 72 points from 33 matches, one ahead of Milan. Roma stay fifth on 58 points. In Germany, Bayern Munich sealed their 10th Bundesliga title in succession by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1. Fans from the Boulogne and Auteuil stands did not show their support once again despite the team having won their previous four games, scoring 16 goals during that run. PSG equalled the record set by Saint-Étienne, who won 10 top flight titles between 1957 and 1981.

Messi on target as PSG claim title (LFP)

Paris Saint-Germain regained their Ligue 1 Uber Eats title after Lionel Messi fired them to a 1-0 win over RC Lens on Saturday night.

Messi turned a lot of heads in swapping Barcelona for the French capital at the start of the season. Only two of their previous league triumphs - in 1986 and 1994 - came before the Qatar Sports Investments era which began in 2011. Neymar slipped the ball to his former Barcelona teammate and the Argentine did the rest, curling an unstoppable effort beyond Leca for 1-0 (68'). Mbappé's tried to add gloss to the scoreline late on, but after nutmegging and then racing past Cheick Doucouré, he saw his penalty claim waved away (79'). Corentin Jean pulled one back late on (88') - enough for a 1-1 draw, but not enough to deny PSG the title.
