Perth win ends Davison's Supercars drought (7NEWS.com.au)

Ford's Will Davison has claimed his first win since 2016 after a controversial and drama-filled Supercars race at Perth's Wanneroo Raceway.

The finish-line drama came after Pye and Jack Le Brocq got in a tussle on the main straight at the end of the opening lap. Waters crossed the finish line first at Wanneroo Raceway but due to the penalty dropped to fourth on the classification in a 46-lap race that was suspended for almost an hour when Scott Pye crashed out at the end of the opening lap and damaged a gate on the pit-lane fence. Davison was pushing to get past Waters on the final turn, with the Tickford Racing star running wide of the track before popping out in front of Davison much to the Shell V-Power Racing star's annoyance.

Perth Supercars: Davison takes controversial win (Motorsport.com, Edition: Australia)

Will Davison won his first Supercars race in six years in Perth after long-time leader Cam Waters was slapped with a controversial time penalty.

"You want to earn the wins, so it kind of feels weird not crossing the line first. "It's just a weight off my shoulders now. Andre Heimgartner put in a charging second stint to land on the podium thanks to a combination of taking four tyres at his stop and then closing up on those ahead of him behind the safety car. With his tyres up to temp Davison was then able to get a run on Waters down the back straight before executing a late dive up the inside of the Tickford Ford at Turn 7. He then pulled half a second on Davison and the chasing field across the first lap, only for that advantage to disappear when the safety car was initially called and then the race was red flagged. Waters made a perfect start to the race from the outside of the front row, clearing polesitter Davison before getting to the first corner.
