Jackson made the comment about Seymour, who is of Ngāpuhi descent, saying he claimed to be Māori but "he's just a useless Māori, that's all".
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson has doubled down on calling ACT leader David Seymour a "useless Māori".
"I've never got into that sort of culture war politics, I'm interested in effectiveness for the taxpayer dollar. Every ministry should be thinking about every type of human, we shouldn't need whole ministries to represent types of human. Jackson: Problem isn't Act leader a 'useless Māori', but that he's a dangerous politician.
"They don't like tangata whenua. "I'm not going to stoop to getting involved with someone like that. He's talking for about five or six per cent if he's lucky." Willie Jackson, he's good for a laugh, but he's also a good example of why we need more serious people in charge of our Government and our country's future," the Act leader added. Māori Development Minister Jackson yesterday said the Act leader could claim Māori whakapapa but was a "useless Māori" and a "useless advocate for Māori". "He's a got a group of people who are trying to drive and support him," the Minister added.
Jackson told Morning Report he did not regret his comment because Seymour is a "dangerous politician".
