Chlöe does not benefit financially from the film," she added. Introducing Envoy Gateway (DevOps.com)

Today we are thrilled to announce Envoy Gateway, a new member of the Envoy Proxy family aimed at significantly decreasing the barrier to entry when using.

Today we are thankful for the initial sponsors of Envoy Gateway ( Ambassador Labs, Fidelity, Tetrate, and VMware) and are excited to start on this new journey with all of you. This will lead to a crisper primary API while allowing an escape hatch for organizations that might outgrow the expressiveness of the primary API and wish to utilize the full power of Envoy via xDS. As such, Envoy Gateway is committed to a “hard line in the sand” in which the Kubernetes Gateway API (and any permissible extensions within that API) is the only additional API that will be supported. - A “batteries included” experience that will enable users to get up and running as fast as possible. Over the last 5+ years, we have seen Envoy adopted by a tremendous number of end users, both as an API gateway and as a sidecar proxy in “service mesh” roles. - Lead to a “rising tide lifts all boats” phenomenon in which more users around the world enjoy the benefits of Envoy, whether their organization is large or small.

The GCC railway really should be built (but might not be) (Railway Technology)

The GCC railway will involve the construction of a rail network of more than 2,000km travelling the coast of the Persian Gulf from Kuwait to Oman, with inland ...

Qatar has said that it will start construction on its planned 146km passenger and freight rail link to Saudi Arabia in 2022, but in reality the project remains at an early stage. The biggest challenge in delivering the project will be getting each of the countries to complete their sections on time. The GCC railway faces a number of technical challenges given the difficult terrain and weather conditions in the region. Connecting these intercity rail services with mobility as a service infrastructures within cities will also be a challenge that requires investment and ingenuity. GlobalData estimates that investment in rail infrastructure in the UAE is set to grow each year until 2026, and at a faster rate than other types of infrastructure. A high-speed railway connecting the country’s two religious pilgrimage sites, Mecca and Medina, was opened in 2018 as part of an ongoing major expansion of rail services across the country. Market sources suggest that previous studies conducted by private consultants were not favourably received by the government, and everything remains on hold. The government hopes to connect 11 cities from Al Sila to Fujairah by rail by 2030. Both have hugely ambitious plans for diversifying their economies away from a reliance on fossil fuels, and investment in rail infrastructure is just part of those strategies. At the height of the blockade, Saudi Arabia talked about building a canal and filling it with toxic waste along its border with Qatar. Costs have been estimated at anything up to $200bn, and from a distance it may sound like a vanity or white elephant project. Although the GCC railway has been given political momentum again, major challenges remain.

Elizabeth line: How the 'perfect' project became a nightmare (BBC News)

As part of my job as transport correspondent at BBC London, I've covered most of the construction of Crossrail. It has been a unique project with twists and ...

And any new big regional project - wherever it is in the country - will probably have to be built with reduced government funding. An east-west railway across London was first mentioned in the 1800s. While the tunnelling had gone OK, the technical side of things was faltering. Renè Tkáčik was 43 when he was killed by a section of the tunnel roof collapsing. The rest came from central government. The challenge now is for Transport for London (TfL) to run a decent service. It is a highly skilled job and many of them have now moved on to the High Speed 2 (HS2) rail project. Funding has stalled on Crossrail 2. Funding came from TfL and the Greater London Authority. London's businesses also paid a Crossrail levy. Two other people were injured in similar incidents. It was the biggest infrastructure project in Europe with a mantra of "on time and on budget". There is no doubt the stations and the trains are impressive.

“However, much remains to be done to implement and embed the desired changes,” the report warned. “The program’s overall status moved from green to amber during the reporting period.” the auditor said in its report. Mr Zanin joined Westpac from Fannie Mae in New York in the newly combined role about a month ago, after chief risk officer David Stephen and the head of financial crime and compliance, Les Vance, left the bank. In February, Westpac flagged a 20 per cent reduction in head office positions – mostly from technology, finance and human resources – to keep costs under control. More than 1100 jobs were cut in the first quarter, with about the same number to go over the rest of this half. While the overall progress remains on track, Promontory said two components of the project, workstreams 7 and 15, were revised at the March steering committee meeting to “red” under the “red”, “amber”, “green” classification system.

Other motorists would need to pay a toll that is correlated to the amount of traffic in the express lanes. “That translates to 5,700 jobs, $35 million in state and local tax revenue and $1 billion in economic impact to the local and statewide economy. Assemblywoman Lori Wilson, D-Suisun City, said the project would ease congestion for all, particularly travel for students and essential workers. “This facility now is gonna make it easier for those 26,000 people who work at Travis,” he said. “Solano County has seen a growth in the area, but we’ve noticed when it’s 5 o’clock, 4 o’clock, (traffic) starts to pick up. The project aims to add a pair of 18-mile express lanes, both eastbound and westbound, stretching from Red Top Road in Fairfield to Leisure Town Road in Vacaville. This includes eight miles of existing carpool lanes between Red Top and Airbase Parkway, which will be converted into express lanes.

Cost blowouts for Queensland projects caused partly by 'poor ... (The Guardian)

Auditor general finds costs for two departments' projects blew out by $127m and led to delays of up to four months.

Worrall recommended the Department of Energy and Public Works develop a new framework outlining the minimum rules for managing infrastructure projects, and guidelines for the public sector agencies applying it. The report said the capital works management framework, overseen by the Department of Energy and Public Works, was outdated, had gaps and was not always applied. The Department of Education’s projects for the Brisbane South State Secondary College and Fortitude Valley State Secondary College were among those probed.
