Holly Holm was not happy with the judges at UFC Vegas 55 after she lost a close split decision to Ketlen Vieira in the main event.

Elise Reed: There was a lot to like about Reed when she entered the UFC. However, in her two losses, she’s been overwhelmed physically in both of her UFC losses. Take what you will of what I mean by that given it was Hooper’s third UFC win, but it didn’t look like he was sneaking out of the event with a submission out of nowhere for the win. Now that he’s dropped three of his last four at the age of 36, it’s hard to see his next fight happening in the UFC. The pint-sized strawweight did get the win, but she struggled with the length of Viana, barely edging out the win. At 28, it isn’t too late for Todorovic to turn things around, but I get the feeling he’ll need to do that outside the organization. I still don’t have a solid feel for Hughes’ ceiling, but she looks like she’s going to be around a while after a rough start to her UFC career. I still don’t buy the UFC narrative that he’s a future star, but he finally looks like he doesn’t have to be hand fed opponents to pick up a win. Vieira was awarded the decision by the judges, leaving her very likely to get a title shot in the near future. The native of Serbia fought a patient fight, flicking out all sorts of volume as he picked apart a veteran Omar Morales before hurting him in the second. Vieira did land the harder strikes, producing the more memorable moments in the fight, but most feel like there wasn’t enough between the spaces for her to get the job done. Neither man backed down and Pereira earned the nod in the eyes of the judges. She spent long periods of time in control against the cage and had a sizeable advantage in terms of pure volume.

Holly Holm most certainly thought she did enough to win the UFC Fight Night 206 headliner, but the judges saw it differently.

4 biggest takeaways from UFC Fight Night 206: Does Holly Holm ... (MMA Junkie)

Thoughts and analysis of the biggest storylines coming out of UFC Fight Night 206, which took place Saturday in Las Vegas.

There are still flashes of the entertainer we’ve come to love at moments in each of his fights, but overall, Pereira has tightened up a lot of the flaws in his game, and the results speak for themselves. Given the lack of demand to see her fight for UFC gold, though, she’s in a risky position. The change in narrative Pereira (28-11 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has forced upon his career is compelling, to say the least. There’s a missing link somewhere, and the traffic numbers we see for Vieira’s fight-related content prove that to be a fact. There have of course been decisions where the losing fighter has the right for a bigger gripe than Holm, but in this instance, it’s not hard to understand why Holm thinks she won. This sport has exploded in popularity, exposure and significance of the past decade, and trotting out a tagline that UFC president Dana White used back on Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2005 feels silly at this point.

“‘… And yes, it’s something that he uses to propel us to actually win and to find more, to actually go for a fight, to look for a fight, to look for a win. “I saw the ref come in close and when I looked over to see him coming close that’s when I think she took the opportunity because I looked away from what was going on and she escaped me. I’ve been close to No. 2 all this time, so I just want to take whatever time is necessary and wait for the winner there.” She was just pressing me against the cage but nothing was happening, she just wanted me to stop fighting and I think that the judges actually saw that.” Holm’s eyes bulged and her face turned red, but “The Preacher’s Daughter” somehow managed to escape the predicament. While many observers thought that Holm deserved the nod on the scorecards, Vieira wasn’t impressed with her opponent’s approach, which included plenty of clinch work and control time.
