B/R NBA Staff: Ranking the Top 10 Stars to Never Win a Ring (Bleacher Report)

10. Russell Westbrook · 9. James Harden · 8. Steve Nash · 7. Patrick Ewing · 6. Allen Iverson · 5. John Stockton · 4. Chris Paul · 3. Elgin Baylor.

While Wilkins never won a championship as a player, he did as coach of the 1978-79 Seattle SuperSonics. Highest Rank: 13 —Pincus Reggie Miller: Reggie Miller may qualify for this list by a single performance, scoring eight points in the final 18.7 seconds of a playoff game in 1995 against the New York Knicks. That wild sequence with the Indiana Pacers (his lone franchise for 18 seasons) best encapsulates what a killer Miller was in the playoffs. Pete Maravich: Pete Maravich was arguably the NBA's first ball-handling wizard and a true showman. Highest Rank: 7 —Highkin But as a pure scorer, few have ever been more effective, and he remains one of the most popular players of the past two decades. And while that may not have yielded a ring (thanks, Michael Jordan), it was more than enough to establish him as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He played small forward, but at 6'5", his size forced him to function as a guard for much of his career. Over that span, he worked successfully with the league through a new collective bargaining agreement in 2017 and several seasons complicated by the pandemic. Beyond what he did on the court, Iverson was a pioneer of self-expression. But Nash and the Suns were a force. Nash finished his career at 14.3 points and 8.5 assists a game, shooting 49 percent from the field, 42.8 percent from three-point range and 90.4 percent from the line. Below that, you'll see both the Highest Ranking, as well as the Lowest Ranking from our voters.

NBA Finals: Steph Curry scores 43 points, Warriors even series ... (The Athletic)

Stephen Curry can still move, and boy can he still shoot.Because the Golden State Warriors' best player is OK after all, they are too.

Curry and Tatum both scored 12 points in a first quarter that ended with a Grant Williams’ 3-pointer as time expired that gave the Celtics a 28-27 advantage. While Porter was ineffective in 15 minutes, Looney was huge off the bench with six points and 11 boards. “We just got to do a better job executing down the stretch. Curry again was the culprit with 14 points and Golden State went up by one. Derrick White scored 16 off the bench for Boston. This after dominating the paint in Game 3. After a 3-ball in the first quarter, he flexed and roared at the hostile Boston crowd, welcoming its wrath. Our offense wasn’t as good as it needed to be and it aided them on defense.” “We wouldn’t have won without him,” said Jordan Poole, who scored 14 points off the Warriors’ bench. “We guarded well enough to win, even though Curry kind of got loose. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 23 points and added 11 rebounds, but shot 8-of-23. It was also his 11th Finals game with at least six 3s.

Curry Scores 43 to Beat Boston, Warriors Tie NBA Finals 2-2 (U.S. News & World Report)

BOSTON (AP) — Stephen Curry scored 43 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 107-97 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on ...

Williams was listed as questionable coming into the game with the knee injury that kept him out at the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. “This is a tough series for him to score because of Boston’s size and athleticism, but he’s still impacting the game at a huge level.” Curry scored 14 points in the quarter, making four 3-pointers. Curry’s foot was an issue coming into the night after Boston’s Al Horford landed on it late in Game 3. The amped-up crowd spent much of the game booing Green, chanting an obscenity at him that is usually reserved for Bucky Dent, and jeering his many misses. Curry was more demonstrative than usual, raising his arms after failing to get a foul call, interacting with the sold-out TD Garden crowd and flexing to celebrate a big Warriors basket. “The things he does, we kind of take for granted at times, to go out there and put us on his back. “I felt like we just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight,” Curry said. Marcus Smart, who scored 18 points, hit a 3-pointer to give the Celtics a 94-90 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and 16 boards for the Warriors, who have won at least one road game for an NBA-record 27 consecutive playoff series since 2013. It was the second-most points he's scored in the NBA Finals. “We had to do it the difficult way,” said Celtics coach Ime Udoka, whose team is 7-0 after losses in the 2022 postseason.

NBA Finals Game 5: Steph Curry scoring, Draymond Green ... (Sporting News AU)

The Warriors managed to tie the NBA Finals with the Celtics 2-2 with their Game 4 win, but what are the keys to gaining an advantage back in San Francisco ...

Boston must continue to protect the ball for the remainder of this series as they did in Game 3. But with the series now tied 2-2 and the Warriors once again holding homecourt advantage, will Tatum be able to assert himself on this series as a superstar should? This was a departure from Game 1 in which Green seemed like he was trying to shoot his way out of the slump. In Game 2 they had 18 turnovers which led to 33 Warriors' points. In the first four games, he's averaging 22.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists. I sound like a broken record, but when the Celtics take care of the ball, they usually win games. They protected the ball much better in Game 3 turning it over just 12 times. Green has made more headlines this season for his post-game comments and podcast vocation. He finished with 43 points (7-of-14 from beyond the arc), 10 rebounds and four assists. Curry outscored the rest of the Warriors' starters 43-39. At some points during Game 4 it appeared like he was straight up scared to shoot the ball. As we mentioned in the intro, he almost single-handedly willed his team to that Game 4 win, and he will again be leading the charge in Game 5.

Golden State Warriors All-Star guard Steph Curry put on an absolute show in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night. With the Warriors down 2-1 in the ...

In the process of cooking the Celtics, Curry made some major NBA history, as he passed Shaquille O'Neal to move into 12th place on the NBA's all-time Finals scoring list. Now just two wins away from another title, the Warriors are going to need some more magic from Curry in order to get the job done. O'Neal probably won't be too upset about being passed by Curry, as he has called Curry his favorite current player on numerous occasions. He hit seven of his 14 attempts from long range and shot 53 percent from the floor overall. Golden State Warriors All-Star guard Steph Curry put on an absolute show in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night. During his 40 minutes of action, Curry scored 43 points, snagged 10 rebounds and dropped four assists.

NBA Finals: Stephen Curry scores 43 as Warriors down Celtics (The Indian Express)

The output was Curry's second-best effort in NBA Finals play. His high of 47 occurred in Game 3 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

“I think we got a little stagnant,” White said of the late-game troubles. We have to do a better job executing down the stretch.” Tatum had 16 points as the Celtics led 54-49 at halftime. Looney grabbed 11 boards for the Warriors, who logged a 55-42 rebounding advantage. Curry is averaging 34.3 points in the series and has made 25 of 51 3-point attempts. Boston’s Al Horford caused the injury when he fell on Curry in Game 3. Horford ended the Celtics’ drought by hitting a 3-pointer with 1:32 left. “I just want to win the game. “For the most part, I didn’t think of (the foot). It doesn’t take up too much mental space. “I don’t rate my performances,” the 34-year-old Curry said. The Golden State Warriors couldn’t afford a misstep, and Curry put them on solid footing. The output was Curry’s second-best effort in NBA Finals play.
