NBA finals Game 6: Golden State Warriors 103-90 Boston Celtics ... (The Guardian)

Rolling report: The Golden State Warriors were too good for the Boston Celtics as they wrapped up the finals series 4-2.

“Because it’s going to be the hardest game you probably ever played in your career because of what the stakes are.” In the mean time, feel free to send thoughts and feelings to @LengelDavid or via Email. Not that it mattered as Andrew Wiggins, the former No 1 overall pick, stepped up and gave the most important performance of his career. They need to stop this bleeding before the Garden becomes a morgue. “You just understand what the nerves are like,” Curry told reporters earlier this week. That’s really the difference here, along with the Warriors threes and the Celtics lack of them, of course. So they’ll have to snap out of their Garden mediocrity if there’s going to be another cross-country haul in their future. That’s the half, one that started a lot better for Boston than it finished. Thanks to Andrew Wiggins piking up Golden State, Boston are back in a similar situation: having to sweep two games. Then Brown comes right back with a left handed layup of his own for Boston. It looks good, but the Celtics need stops. Curry walks, but they don’t call it - he passes to Thompson, who hits a fadeaway, straight on. And now we begin to wonder if they can do it all again in 2022-2023.

Golden State Warriors topple Boston Celtics to secure seventh NBA ... (Stuff.co.nz)

Steph Curry scored 34 points for the Warriors, who claimed the franchise's seventh championship overall.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver could not be at the game because he remained in the league’s health and safety protocols related to the virus. It was just the fifth defeat in 22 title-series appearances for Boston, which turned its season around to have a chance at this crown. The Warriors used their two-year hiatus from the NBA’s biggest stages to retool their roster – adding a past No. 1 draft pick in Andrew Wiggins, who excelled in his first finals, along with another rising star in Jordan Poole. For Golden State coach Steve Kerr, it’s a ninth championship overall after winning five as a player. Injuries, including ones that sidelined Thompson for two and a half years, and roster changes changed everything. Stephen Curry scored 34 points for the Warriors, who claimed the franchise’s seventh championship overall.

NBA Finals 2022 - Best sights and sounds from Warriors-Celtics ... (ESPN)

It was win or go home for the Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Warriors ended the night hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy. Here are the best scenes ...

With Game 6 in Boston and the Celtics having not lost three straight games since late December, folks were revved up to see a battle on the court tonight. After the Celtics took a 12-2 lead early in the first quarter, former Celtic Ray Allen was shown on the video board during a timeout and was given a loud ovation. So for the second time in these playoffs, Golden State's shootaround playlist included Boston's own New Edition and group members who famously went solo. About 75 minutes before Game 6, fans gave a big ovation when Al Horford made his way onto the court for Celtics' warm-ups. It was a busy day for Gucci Mane. Not only did the rapper announce he was releasing an album at midnight, he decided to take in some championship basketball at TD Garden before the drop. Oh, and don't forget: For the first four games of this series, Boston was dominated in the third quarter. As they have so many times in this series, the Celtics failed to press their advantage. Things couldn't have gone better for the Celtics over the first few minutes of Game 6. Allen, a member of Boston's 2008 title team, had famously fallen out with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce after leaving to join the Miami Heat in 2012, but it seems like time has healed old wounds. That's partly because of Al Horford, who was up to 16 points and 11 rebounds and had been flying around -- particularly in the second half. The Celtics managed to erase their series long third quarter issues for a second straight game. Golden State had previously struggled to close out series on the road this postseason.

Ray Allen and Paul Pierce at TD Garden for Celtics-Warriors Game 6 (CBS News)

Two of the Celtics' Big 3 from the franchise's 2008 championship team are at TD Garden for Thursday night's Game 6 against the Warriors.

Fellow 2008 champs Eddie House and Glen Davis are also at TD Garden for Thursday night's game. But the hatchet was buried with Allen recently, as he was at TD Garden in March for Garnett's jersey retirement ceremony. Pierce is no stranger to TD Garden since retiring from the NBA, and has been spotted a few times during Boston's current postseason run.
