If you get both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit, you will receive a Cost of Living Payment for Child Tax Credit only. If you also get a qualifying disability benefit, you may get an additional Disability Cost of Living Payment from DWP. If you have a joint claim with a partner, you will get one payment of £326 and one payment of £324 for your joint claim, if you’re entitled. To get the first Cost of Living Payment of £326, you must have received a payment, or an annual award of at least £26, of Tax Credits on any day in the period April 26, 2022 to May 25, 2022. From July 14, a first instalment of £326 will start to be paid out to low-income households on benefits, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced.

The response continued: “When considering calls to increase the level of SMP, this must be balanced against limited resources as well as being mindful of the burden on employers, who (with the exception of small employers i.e. those with gross National Insurance liability of £45,000 or less in a tax year) are required to cover 8% of the SMP costs. Ms Black has outlined how Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is currently paid at 90% of average weekly earnings, before tax, for the first six weeks. However, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has responded saying there are “no plans” to review the current payment rates.

An estimated 1.2 million families in London will be eligible for the £650 means-tested benefit cost of living payment, the government has confirmed.

For the first ‘half’ instalment of £326 which will be paid from 14 July, people needed to be in receipt of one of these benefits, or have begun a claim which is later successful, as of 25 May 2022. This is made up from the direct payment of £650 for over eight million households on benefits, a separate £300 payment for pensioners, and a £150 payment for disabled people, as well as the £400 energy discount and the previously announced £150 council tax rebate. The Department for Work and Pensions has revealed how many people in each part of the country will receive the £650 cost-of-living payment, with the first half to be paid from 14 July.
