Stranger Things season 5 is officially on the way. The new episodes may not have started filming yet, but we still have some idea about what to expect in ...
It's highly unlikely that any of the main cast members are going to split before Stranger Things wraps itself up for good, so it's expected that they're all set to return for season 5. For now, the Stranger Things season 5 plot is firmly under wraps, but the Duffer Brothers have teased that they have the whole series' conclusion pretty firmly mapped out. Joseph Quinn, who was introduced as Eddie Munson in season 4, recently told The Guardian (opens in new tab) that he'd love to see the leader of the Dungeons & Dragons' loving Hellfire Club return in season 5. Considering how Stranger Things season 5 has yet to start filming, it's safe to assume we've got a little bit of a wait before the next chapter arrives. Stranger Things season 5 is officially on the way. In recent weeks, fans have been theorising as to what might happen in the fifth and final chapter. (Fore more, check out our guide to the Stranger Things season 4, Volume 2 ending.) Realistically, though, the new season will probably drop in 2024. Factor in lengthy VFX post-production work and it takes well over a year to complete a season from start to finish. Word of caution: friends don't lie, and they also don't knowingly ruin things, so if you've yet to watch Stranger Things 4, click away and come back at a later date. And while there's no exact Stranger Things season 5 release date just yet, we can use our knowledge of previous seasons to work out when new episodes could arrive. "We really want to stick the landing."
Ahead of the final episodes being released, Will Byers actor Noah Schnapp tweeted an ominous picture of himself along with the words: "Happy Stranger Things ...
We don't yet have a confirmed cast list for Stranger Things season 5 but we'd expect all the surviving central characters to be back for more. Another thing we know is that season 5 is likely to feature a time jump, as Ross Duffer previously told TVLine: "I'm sure we will do a time jump. Seasons 1 to 3 all released their entire seasons in one go, while season 4 released in two volumes, with volume 1 containing seven episodes and volume 2 containing two. Season 3 took two years to arrive, while season 4 took 3 years, although this was in part due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic. It has, so you don't need to worry that the series will be left on a cliffhanger. It proved too large to tell in four, but – as you’ll soon see for yourselves – we are now hurtling toward our finale.

"During the six-month pandemic hiatus, we outlined season 5 and pitched it to Netflix," they said. "I’m sure we will do a time jump," Ross Duffer told the outlet. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last." In fact, the Duffers told Variety last month that they already have a plot mapped out for season 5. "We really want to stick the landing. The Netflix paranormal hit's horrifying fourth season has come to a close, and the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that we just have one season left with the Hawkins gang.
Stranger Things Season 4 concluded with a two-part finale on Netflix. Here's what we know about the future of the show, including season 5.
We think everyone — including Netflix — will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different. In a recent interview, the Duffers said they didn’t yet have shoot dates for the final season. It’s unclear if the spin-off will even take place in Hawkins. In February, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer—the “Duffer Brothers”— published an open letter about the series’ future. “There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. That story—with Eleven, Mike, Will, and Hopper—will end after Season 5.
Here is everything we know about Stranger Things Season 5, the fifth and final season of the Netflix series, including who is returning, release date, ...
With a likely multi-year wait between seasons of Stranger Things, there are a lot of epic sci-fi shows to check out in the meantime. Production has not started yet, so at the very earliest we do not expect Stranger Things Season 5 until late 2023, but more likely a 2024 release. The world of Stranger Things officially turned Upside Down at the end of Stranger Things Season 4.
We watched as Joyce (Winona Ryder) journeyed to Russia to save Hopper (David Harbour), the Hawkins-based group rallied around Max (Sadie Sink) and Eddie, and as ...
That means that there are no plans for a Stranger Things Season 6. Yes, there will be a Stranger Things Season 5. Will there be a Stranger Things Season 5 on Netflix? And how long will you have to wait for it?

Perhaps the biggest mystery that Stranger Things season 5 will have to confront is the whereabouts of Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink). To be clear, we know where Max’s body is. In the process though Max’s consciousness appears to have run off. When the apocalyptic black clouds roll in in season 5, however, they may have no choice but to believe. Based on the final shot of the season it seems as though a significant chunk of The Upside Down has leaked out into our world. From that moment on, Vecna sought Eleven as a sort of key to the “real world,” which he in turn could turn into The Upside Down. Upon arrival in the Upside Down, Vecna surveyed the landscape and saw that it was to his liking. As previously stated, Vecna’s ultimate goal is to unleash the hellish chaos of The Upside Down upon our unsuspecting world. Another aspect of season 4’s delay that can’t be ignored is that the Duffer Brothers clearly wanted to take their time to properly plot out the end of the series. Will, thanks to his earlier connection with the Mind Flayer (who was operating as part of Vecna), can still feel Vecna’s presence. The good news is that we will absolutely see a fifth season of Stranger Things. The bad news is that it will be the show’s last. While Dustin was right in assuming that the humanoid Vecna was more powerful than any Demo-creatures, it seems as though he still underrated the dark wizard. The show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, wrote a letter to fans to accompany the announcement.
The Season 4 finale made all 'Stranger Things' fans' worst nightmares come true — here's how it sets up Season 5 to be the most horrifying yet.
To top it all, the fate of countless Hawkins residents is in the balance. They might not believe in their abilities, but this ragtag group of kids is the most equipped to fight what’s coming their way. The last moments of Stranger Things Season 4, Episode 9 reveal a supernatural tempest that appears to be killing the lush Indiana countryside. But the blissful ignorance had to come to an end, thanks to the final moments of Stranger Things Season 4. Vecna’s fury has forced its way out of the Upside Down and presents itself in the real world in the form of a massive earthquake that leaves dozens dead and hundreds injured. But Stranger Things is set in the 1980s, when your kids disappearing with no contact until dinnertime was the norm.
Fans of Steve (Joe Keery), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) can now breathe a sigh of relief for the fifth and final season. The same ...
Steve and Robyn succeed at burning Vecna’s physical body while Nancy fires at him with a shotgun, defeating him at last (or at least for this episode). Hopefully the residents of Hawkins will have peace in the end — but not before more destruction. Lucas brawls with Jason, fighting for his and everyone else’s life before managing to knock Jason unconscious. After Max’s heart stops beating for a minute, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) uses her powers to bring Max back to life. The final two episodes of Season 4 of Netflix’s "Stranger Things" (streaming now) sent fans into a frenzy of uncertainty over whether their favorite character will live to see another season. Dustin tells Eddie’s uncle that his son died a hero and stayed true to himself.
[Warning: The following contains spoilers for the final episodes of Stranger Things Season 4. Read at your own risk!] The battle for Hawkins — and the rest ...
Since Eleven closed the gate between Hawkins and Russia at the end of Season 3, it would be a long journey back to the states for the swirling particles to rejoin Vecna and the rest of their brood. If they are able to do that, it could give the Hawkins crew the advantage they need to take down Vecna once and for all. The signs that Will has more-than-platonic feelings for Mike have been brewing since late Season 2, but came extremely close to exploding in the final episodes of Season 4. It started with Will being borderline repulsed by attention from girls at his school and escalated to Will giving Mike a barely veiled speech about how Mike makes Eleven feel like she's not an outsider and Eleven will always need Mike. Will's silent tears after the soliloquy and his heart-to-heart with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) later all but confirmed that Will has been coming to terms with his sexuality, and the likely romantic feelings he has for his best friend. And there are several more burning questions that need to be answered, like what happened to Dr. Owens ( Paul Reiser) after Eleven left Project Nina? Will Vecna return in a new form after being lit on fire and shot multiple times at close range? Considering that Dustin was with Eddie when he died and wasn't able to save him, and Eddie's body was never returned to the Right-Side-Up, it seems totally within reason that Eddie, or a Vecna-reanimation of Eddie, could be used to torment Dustin and other members of the Hellfire Club because they weren't able to save their Dungeon Master. Which brings us to... Dustin wasn't able to get to Eddie in time to save him from the bats... Max's heart stopped in the process, and Eleven found a way to revive her, but the Kate Bush enthusiast remains in a coma with her mind empty — or at least her consciousness buried somewhere Eleven cant find it. We break down why, and we detail a few other fan theories about the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things below. He took enough of Max to open the fourth gate and bring the Upside Down to Hawkins, even if he was severely injured in the process. The battle for Hawkins — and the rest of the world — has entered its final stage. Even though Eleven ( Millie Bobby Brown) found a way to piggyback into Max's thoughts from a pizza dough oven in Nevada to take on Vecna herself, she wasn't able to stave off the monster in time.
Stranger Things season 4 was a trying experience for Max Mayfield. What was her fate coming out of it and will she be in season 5?
Max may not be dead anymore but that doesn’t mean her fate isn’t up in the air. Fans of Stranger Things have been traumatised by the fourth season of the Netflix series. Eleven managed to save her from Vecna’s curse but the creature had already done some irreversible damage to her, rendering her unable to feel or see anything.
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed earlier this year that the show would be coming to an end with a fifth and final season.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter in 2020, Ross Duffer said: “Season four won’t be the end. “[The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. But aside from Finn, no one else knows!” It proved too large to tell in four but - as you’ll see for yourselves - we are now hurtling toward our finale. At the time, they revealed that season four would be released in two volumes, with the first released on 27 May and the second then released five weeks later on 1 July. “Season four will be the penultimate season; season five will be the last.”
Joseph Quinn was a major hit as Stranger Things season 4's Eddie Munson but could he be back in season 5 or is this the end for Eddie?
While no official announcement has been made as of yet, it does look like Joseph Quinn won’t be a regular in Stranger Things season 5. If you’d like to know more about his journey in season 4 part 2, read on. In a case of wrong place, wrong time, he is framed for her murder.
Plus, we learned more about Eleven and the Upside Down, and we got the very best villain in the show's history with the dark sorcerer Vecna (played by Jamie ...
(And the evidence is pretty good!) It’s enough to wonder if it really was Vecna who kidnapped Will and whether or not his story about being the architect of the entire “Stranger Things” mystery is actually true. Could there be a scenario in Season 5 where the citizens of Hawkins are forced to team up with the Soviets, sharing their knowledge of the situation, in a way of saving the world from the horrors of the Upside Down? Finally, Vecna came across a swarm of particles (what the Russians referred to as “the Shadow,” but what Dustin and the kids have called the Mind Flayer). The Shadow went into Vecna and gave him the power to lead the creatures in the universe. In other words, when it comes to “Stranger Things 5,” the sooner, the better. Talk about a bombshell that hasn’t been explored in any meaningful way since: When the gang travels to the Upside Down through the water gate, Nancy discovers that the universe is frozen in time, specifically the moment that Will (Noah Schnapp) was abducted and brought there in Season 1. The hierarchy of the Upside Down and the creatures therein still remain pretty muddy, but considering Vecna is still alive and probably seething, we’ll probably find out a lot more about this villain in the fifth and final season. Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) had seemingly been rekindling their romance throughout Season 4, but at the end of the season, her actual boyfriend Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) showed up after his adventure. In the Season 4 finale, Vecna tells Eleven the story of how he became a creepy wizard from an alternate dimension with a giant claw arm and some very bad skin. Steve was alive (thank god) but rejected (boo). Honestly, Jonathan is kind of a wet blanket, and him being a stoner this season made him even more unappealing. Her arms and legs are in a cast; she might be permanently blind; and, perhaps most damning, when Eleven looks for her in the blackish void, Max is not there. Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) stays by her side, reading her Stephen King and Peter Straub’s “The Talisman.” Considering Season 4 was released nearly three years after “Stranger Things 3,” we could be in for a long wait.
Season 4 debuted in May, making its presence felt on Netflix with seven lengthy installments. However, that wasn't be the only adventure in Hawkins viewers had ...
Stranger Things season 5 is happening. There will be a wait for season 5, though, particularly as it hasn’t started production yet. The wait for the fourth season of Stranger Things has been a long one.
We know Stranger Things season 5 is coming, but don't expect the fifth season of Netflix's top drama to make its way to Netflix in 2022.
We just don’t see that happening given how massive the series has become and the work that goes into creating new episodes. The good news is the Duffers are planning at least one spinoff already which will allow the show to live on in some manner beyond season 5. It’s also not like Netflix to drop two seasons of a major scripted series in the same calendar year.
Plus, there's still the Upside Down particle monster/shadow that Joyce and Hopper glimpsed in Russia. All this sets up a pretty major final season for the ...
The Duffer brothers have said in interviews that a time jump is likely, in part because they have to cover for the fact that the cast keeps growing. For starters, Mike said El didn’t feel she was ready to fight Vecna again, and so she might have to train with Yoda more to access the true depth of her powers. Joyce and Hopper stumbled on a (now gone) lab of Demodogs, other Upside Down monsters, and a “particle monster” that resembled the primitive form of the Mind Flayer. While he might just have been that bent out of shape about the issues in Mike and El’s relationship, is it possible there’s something more happening with him and his own coming-of-age story? Though they were neutered as a plot element once Eleven downed their helicopter in the Nevada desert, they were (for a time) very concerned about how Eleven would handle her powers. When Eleven looks back at the town in the final moments of episode 9, it’s clear the Upside Down is starting to take over Hawkins. As Vecna told Eleven: “This is only the beginning. Ultimately, the Hopper rescue mission to Russia was vital, but it often felt pretty auxiliary to the rest of the season. He had already started the process of killing Max, suspending her in the air and systematically breaking her bones. While Stranger Things is known to inflate some episode lengths, there’s still a (relatively) limited window to wrap up the journeys of everyone in the cast. Plus, there’s still the Upside Down particle monster/shadow that Joyce and Hopper glimpsed in Russia. A few days after Vecna’s attack, many of the people of Hawkins are already moving away from the “earthquake” that caused the massive rifts through town. Upon its release, Stranger Things 4 part 2 was a doozy, and not just because of the run time.
Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield; Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler; Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers; Joe Keery as Steve Harrington; Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley; Brett ...
As Stranger Things prepares to come to an end, it’s expected it will do so with help of all our favorite characters — at least those who survived the events of season 4. Given how season 4 ended, it’s clear we’re in for an unforgettable final season and that Eleven and the gang are about to face their biggest fight yet. Ahead of season 4’s release, Netflix confirmed the series would return for another season and that season 5 would be the show’s last.
