Andy Farrell has named a completely new XV for Ireland's clash with the Maori All Blacks in Wellington on Tuesday morning. Here's all you need to know.

A chance for the guys who have had to wait two weeks for another chance. McCloskey joined up with the Irish squad in New Zealand as a replacement for the injured James Hume, who picked up a groin issue in the defeat to the Maori in the opening game of the tour. Ireland have some familiar names on the replacements bench and Farrell will be looking to manage the minutes of the likes of Conor Murray, MAck Hansen and Jack Conan ahead of the series decider.

He fires the ball out wide to Cullen Grace and the No 8 is heading into touch but hurls the ball back inside, over a couple of defenders straight to Love who dives over. Yep, deliberate knock-on as it’s deemed he didn’t have a chance to regather after the one-handed attempt so that’s 10 minutes in the sin-bin. Another barrelling run from Coombes but Earls is errant with his pass and it’s into touch on halfway. Another entertaining encounter between these sides but this time it’s Ireland who triumph. While reduced to 14 men, Ireland managed to work their way downfield and pepper the Māori line. While both teams claimed four tries, the Māori refusal to kick and determination to run from everywhere in challenging conditions was also exposed at times. This turnaround from Ireland's midweek team represents a major milestone. Anyone in these parts still doubting Ireland's quality or depth will be forced to sharply reconsider. Ireland had success contesting the breakdown, slowing the Māori ball and frustrating veteran halfback TJ Perenara. This gave their defence time to reset and hold firm in the face of regular attacking raids. Handing the Māori just the third defeat from their last 31 internationals speaks to the pride the locals have in their jersey and performance.

As it happened: Māori All Blacks v Ireland, summer tour (The42)

Good morning and welcome to our live coverage of the second-last stop of Ireland's summer tour of New Zealand, with Andy Farrell's squad in Wellington to ...

One or two small errors as is to be expected but controlled the game very well and played with great confidence. But you’re right, that missed touch and one dropped ball, send him back to Ireland and never play him again – a measured comment. Ireland get a second chance with another lineout, which Baird claims, and this time Ireland turn to their close-contact carry game, lose the ball at the breakdown, but quickly win another penalty and go the corner again. But we still won today, and on Saturday, it would be so much worse to be looking at these decisions in the context of losses. Tackled brilliantly, kicked well in horrible conditions (apart from the one missed touch, but again, horrible conditions) passed intelligently and controlled the game well. Frawley’s conversion pulls narrowly wide, but with a little over 10 minutes left on the clock, that should be the game wrapped up for Ireland. Niall Scannell does well to win a penalty as the Maoris apply pressure in the Ireland half. Ireland have a lineout in the Maori 22, win the ball and go their maul. A poor start from Ireland. An error from the kick-off leads to a Maori scrum and from there it’s all Maori pressure. Ireland now down to 14 for the next 10 minutes. Ireland holding up well in the early scrums and slowly growing into the game. They win a lineout in the Maori half and Keith Earls is sharpest to react, noticing the home side have momentarily switched off and quickly playing in Jordan Larmour, who can race through from distance unchallenged.

Maori All Blacks player ratings vs Ireland (RugbyPass)

How did the Maori All Blacks perform in their second clash with Ireland for 2022, on a typically wet and windy night in Wellington?

On in 57th minute. On in 52nd minute. Returned as a permanent sub in the 57th minute. Off in 63rd minute. Off in 57th minute. Couldn’t galvanise his troops but his delivery was on target tonight. Off in 63rd minute. Generally looked dynamic out on the left wing, putting his markers under pressure whether it was running with the ball in hand or popping kicks through. Copped a penalty for a neck roll in a ruck clear-out. Only major error was not reeling in the bouncing ball after a Maori All Blacks lineout steal, with Ireland pouncing and scoring moments later. Looked solid in his first full run-out after returning from injury. Chalked up some metres out wide in the tramlines but struggled closer to the action.

Ireland player ratings vs Maori All Blacks (RugbyPass)

Ireland continued their resurgence in New Zealand by avenging their loss to the Maori All Blacks two weeks ago with a 30-24 win in...

Another player that righted the wrongs of the first encounter with a physical and menacing performance that was topped off with a try. Yet another strong display around the fringes on both sides of the ball and proved again how hard he is to stop from close range. Lineout throwing was slightly loose in the second-half but overall a solid display. Few replacements were called upon in this match, but the ones that did play managed to maintain Ireland’s control. Few standout moments, but equally never put a foot wrong during the hour he was on the field. A frequent target in the lineout, and produced one crucial steal five metres from his line in the first-half. Even contributed with a turnover in the second half. Wasn’t just a case of a high workrate though, as he often exhibited how strong he is in contact. Was full of attacking intent from the back field or when in space and always looked a threat. Learned his lesson from the match two weeks ago to produce a commanding display with the boot, as Ireland comprehensively won the kicking battle. Came off his wing often in attack and defence to great effect, but his performance was marred by the yellow card/ penalty try he conceded. Maybe not the performance with ball in hand he would have wanted, but was a rock in defence, holding up players on a couple of occasions to win turnovers.

Ireland halve series with Māori All Blacks (All Blacks)

Ireland's early reply was swift, right wing Jordan Larmour scoring the first of his brace thanks to a heads-up quick lineout throw by captain Keith Earls.

Right wing Shaun Stevenson, the best Māori All Blacks player on the night, scored out wide off a nice backline move off a lineout. Bent, who has played Test rugby for Ireland, appeared for Taranaki and the NZ Barbarians last season, but was thought to have retired until his unexpected call-up. Yet it was the Māori All Blacks which started more confidently, Josh Ioane forcing a turnover from a dinky kickoff.
