Melanie Lynskey received an Emmy nomination for her performance in Showtime's “Yellowjackets.” (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times). By Yvonne Villarreal ...

I felt empowered to be an interesting person, a sexual person and a messy person and like I could be fully myself. I look at my little daughter as such a free spirit, and I want her to feel the same freedom that I did when she becomes a teenager. And I remember as a teenager in the ’90s, the people I loved, the people I was obsessed with, were, like, PJ Harvey and Courtney Love and Kim Deal. And Naomi Wolf. I read “The Beauty Myth” and I was like, “Yes!!” And I just felt like we were taking the power back, there was this new wave of feminism that I felt very much a part of. All that kind of stuff was so interesting to me, to see how much she longs to have that time back and how much she wishes she got to have an actual youth. Tonight, I made a plan with my friend Maggie Lawson because I needed a plan that I would be glad to be doing if I got nominated for an Emmy or not. So the old ladies have one and then the younger ones have one. But it’s just really nice to read the scripts and everybody’s so complex, everybody’s so interesting and dynamic. And to me, I feel like Sophie kind of created Shauna, and I just ran with it. I decided to just sleep and I thought: Either I’ll get woken up by a lot of texts or I won’t. So, Jason [Ritter, my husband] got up with our daughter and then I got woken up by a lot of texts. I’m trying to get better at that stuff, talking about my feelings and what she just represses and represses. Because I know people are watching and people are paying attention, and it just feels really gratifying. Shifting between 1996 and the present, “Yellowjackets” follows members of New Jersey’s state champion girls’ high school soccer team as they struggle to survive in a remote Canadian wilderness after their plane crashes en route to a championship game in Seattle.

I can’t really be my full self in this relationship.” And then he’s like, “I’ve actually known everything this whole time.” It’s kind of like they’re meeting each other for the first time, and falling in love again, so I’m excited for all that stuff. But I’m just happy to get to be in the room with everybody. Because you want to be specific, and I want to help people write a good article, and I want to give answers. And sometimes I’ll be like “God I’m in a scene with Juliette Lewis,” and she just is magnetic, and she’s electric, and I love working with her too. We’re part of something that people like, and people are talking about, and people want to talk to us about.” And certainly, I’m so thrilled for Christina for the Supporting nomination. Honestly, I feel so lucky to be working with this group of writers who surprise me all the time. The other day, I heard they’re on Episode 7 or something in the writers room, and I was like, “Can I read one? Oh my God, I hope not because I’m terrible with that kind of thing. Like “Togetherness” I just loved so much, and I loved playing that character. Another interesting aspect of the show, and a unique thing about the ensemble for the present day portion, is that you all have been acting most of your lives. Does the show and this nomination maybe bring you all a burst of enthusiasm? And all it took was a traumatic plane crash, an unplanned pregnancy, over a year in the wilderness, and years later, a sprinkle of murder and mystery.

Christina Ricci on Emmy Nom for 'Yellowjackets' and Joining ... (Entertainment Tonight)

Christina Ricci talks to ET about earning her second acting nomination and why her 'Yellowjackets' role resonated with fans.

And I was thrilled and really flattered to be asked to come and be a part of this new iteration of Wednesday, especially because it was Tim Burton who asked me and he is so incredibly talented and wonderful. and I feel like my personality is so intrinsically connected to the experience I had playing that character and in that world. And it was in just one little scene, ‘cause that pilot script that I read, which was the only script I read, it was just that one scene of her abusing the old lady. But I also am excited for our sort of knowledge of her to grow and for us to sort of find out more about who she is. I am excited about the potential of new cast members coming in. Then you get done and then you spend nine months talking to the press about the character and listening to your fellow actors talk about their characters and listening to the writers really talk about their take on the show. And I think all of that really does lead to even more growth for the character. And it was so informative and so well written that the person that you extrapolate from that scene, the character you extrapolate from that scene is fascinating. Like, I really have even more understanding of who she is now and an understanding of how I could evolve with her and make her even better. And so, it’s fun to see somebody who feels just as powerless as they do, who feels just as sort of cheated in a way as they do, and to be acting out those emotions in a way that we can’t as, say, normal people. “Melanie was the first one of the first texts I missed this morning when I was oversleeping. Did you know, “This is exactly the part I want to play?"

Yellowjackets Season 2 Will Be More Insane Teases Christina Ricci (Screen Rant)

Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci reveals what she expects the upcoming season 2 to be like, based on the 'crazy' season 1 finale episode.

Whether Yellowjackets season 2 will deliver on the many possibilities currently in place for a hair-raising season will only become clear once it airs on Showtime. Aside from Misty's character in the present, Yellowjackets season 2 will have to explore how far her involvement with Lottie's cult in the wilderness goes. The question in Yellowjackets season 2 will be whether Misty's cunning and in-depth true crime knowledge will allow her to get away with Jessica's (attempted) murder.

Yellowjackets: Melanie Lynskey shines in Neon's Emmy-Award ... (Stuff.co.nz)

REVIEW: She heads a terrific cast of former '90s stars in this fractured tale that's a heady mix of Cruel Summer, Lost and Mare of Easttown.

People who barely knew you and can make a lot of money out of it,” Roberts pleads with Shauna Sheridan (Melanie Lynskey). But despite promises of seven-figure book advances, “the kind of money that could change a life”, the former elite athlete and straight-A student, whose daily highlights now seemingly include watching television quiz shows and “interactions” with rabbits both ceramic and more mechanical, isn’t budging. While galvanised by the town’s sexism that saw the school’s less-than-50-per-cent-winning-record baseball team more feted by local businesses, concerns that some weren’t pulling their weight had resulted in a horrific training ground injury that debate still rages around whether was an accident. “Do you want other people telling your story?
