Check if your disability benefit qualifies for new £150 cost of living ... (Scottish Daily Record)

People on nine different disability benefits may be eligible for one-off payment from DWP.

We know it gets a bit confusing keeping track of who will be paid and when or what the eligibility criteria is. People claiming any of the means-tested benefits, who are in receipt of a disability benefit, will also receive the £150 payment. The second instalment for £324 is due to be made later in the autumn, however, no qualifying period or specific payment date has been announced yet. If you get a qualifying disability benefit from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and a qualifying disability benefit from DWP, you will get a Disability Cost of Living Payment from DWP only. If you have a joint claim with a partner, you will get one payment of £326 and one payment of £324 for your joint claim - if you are eligible. Nearly one in four families across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland started to receive one-off payments for £326 sent directly to their bank accounts on July 14.

More Northlanders eligible for $350 payment, but budgeters say it ... (Stuff.co.nz)

With a low average annual wage, a high proportion of Northlanders are set to receive the $350 cost of living payment in the next three months.

The Government was also addressing high food costs by looking to improve supermarket competition and appointing a grocery commissioner, he said. “They’re struggling – the food prices go up and the cost of living goes up and although the minimum wage went up this year, it’s still not keeping up with the living costs.” Robertson said the Government was also trying to help ease the cost of living by extending the cut to fuel excise tax, road user charges and half-price public transport fares until January 31, 2023. The $350 cost of living payment – for workers earning under $70,000 a year and not getting the winter energy payment – would particularly benefit the region, he said. But the payment of $117 a month was not going to go far against rising prices, Nita King-Godfrey, manager of Kaitāia Community House and Family Budgeting Service, said. With inflation hitting a record high of 7.3%, the Government’s $350 cost of living payment will not make much difference to working whānau struggling to make ends meet, budget advisors say.
