Nick Widley is aware that the training programme has been in the pipeline for a long time. But speaking to a member from outside the major employers, he said some smaller employers were "looser" with alcohol consumption and alcohol-related harm. Hospitality New Zealand advocates for its members on a list of policy matters. The legal limit for a person over 20 years is 250 mcg. She was convicted, fined and disqualified from driving for seven months in April 2021. "Yes, it's got to the point we are training up anyone in the business as a duty manager if we feel they can do it. "There has also been a cultural shift in hospitality recently. Although he has not experienced the problem with his own staff, he says maybe the increase in drink driving is linked. For the first six months of this year, that had jumped to 34 per cent. Decisions released by the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority showed that one third of all suspensions since 2019 were for drink-driving offences. Maybe these incidents happened when they were bored and had nothing to do." In February 2020, his bar manager's certificate was suspended – again.

How 'Akudama Drive' Challenges the Romanticization of Psychopaths (Collider.com)

Akudama Drive's crazy, eccentric characters feel more realistic when they are not used for comedic relief.

At the end of Episode 8, Cutthroat is shown limping with a bleeding leg, hunting for Swindler, foreshadowing the end of his romanticized insanity and the emergence of his true desires. In fact, Hoodlum is confused as to why she would want to sleep with him, to which she replies that she is “being true to herself” by using her sexuality to manipulate others. The ruthless Cutthroat from Episode 1 who was notoriously known for beheading almost 1000 people becomes thirsty for blood at any cost with a “Here’s Johnny” moment with Swindler to boot (the episode title, “THE SHINING,” conveys that the scene is an intentional reference to the 1980 film). Even Swindler is surprised at the reason he had always protected her as he explains that calling her an “angel” did not have the meaning she had originally thought. Doctor is a stereotypical oversexualized character without a clear goal in the first half of the series. Neither Hoodlum, nor any of the other characters, see Doctor’s sexuality as attractive, but instead view it as a source of their misfortune. This anime gives the villains what they deserve and exactly what audiences expect deep down, but not before introducing the idea that they are parodic and “normal” in the beginning, making their eventual deaths simultaneously disheartening and predictable. When he and Swindler are paired together in the Black Cat’s chosen group, he exclaims, “Yay!” and leaps toward her for a hug. Cutthroat turns from an annoying inconvenience to a deadly threat when it is revealed that his attraction to Swindler stems from his desire to kill her. Akudama Drive is a unique spin on violence and promiscuity wrapped in the guise of chaotic edginess. In the second half, without an outlandish mission and extravagant visuals to distract the audience, the primary characters show their true colors during their idle states. During the mission, he radiates a cute “Harley Quinn” persona, his most notable traits being his infantilized behavior and spontaneous crush on Swindler, whom he calls his “angel.” What is especially striking is how he establishes himself as a useful teammate, as is seen when he agrees to help Brawler fight the Executioners because he wants to protect Swindler and “be useful.” His creepiness is shown through him licking blood off Swindler’s face, but the overall humor in scenes such as when he gets excited about flying in a shuttle bus and riding on Courier’s bike implicates that his psychopathy and transgressions are to be seen as quirky. It follows a young woman, who is officially referred to as “Ordinary Person,” as her life takes a tumultuous turn when she encounters six wanted fugitives known as Akudama (“bad person” in Japanese). When the criminals threaten to assassinate her, she assumes the alias “Swindler” and pretends to be another Akudama. She fights to maintain her precarious lie as she becomes acquainted with the mysterious strangers.

Freeze! Teen slapped with fine after driving with frosted windscreen ... (Stuff.co.nz)

A teen driver drove with his head out the window instead of defrosting his window. It cost him $150.

Police spotted the 19-year-old driving down Dundas St, on Sunday at 9am, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said. Construction is booming with Dunedin's hospital rebuild and CBD upgrade. The legal breath alcohol limit is 250mcg. Tourism, migrant workers and international students are returning. Police located the vehicle only for the driver to ‘’do a burnout in front of police, before taking off’’. A teen spotted driving in Dunedin’s student area with his head out the window to avoid deicing his windscreen has been slapped with a fine.

Mercedes-Benz G400d axed in Australia months after launch (Drive)

Mercedes-Benz has axed its first diesel G-Class in three years just 12 months after it went on sale, amid high demand for the G63.

The G400d's axing will come at no surprise after looking at the G-Class's sales numbers, as the vast majority of G-Class sales last year were back-ordered G63 – and no G400d examples were delivered in the first half of this year. However, orders for all G-Class models closed in July 2021 due to high demand – and a Mercedes-Benz spokesperson has confirmed to Drive the G400d will not be made available again once orders eventually re-open, with the Mercedes-AMG G63 to once again be the sole variant locally. Announced in March 2021 – and introduced to Mercedes-Benz showrooms that July – the G400d was the first diesel-engined G-Class variant in three years, offered as a cheaper, less exuberant alternative to the flagship AMG G63 variant.

It’s based on the Ram 1500 pick-up, and is offered with a 288kW/548Nm 5.7-litre V8 and the option or rear or four-wheel drive. Available in regular and ‘Grand’ Wagoneer forms, the full-size Jeep is the largest vehicle in the brand’s history, with an even-longer Grand Wagoneer L (5758mm) set to arrive later this year. This is a very expensive way to work out that the height of a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer on a car transporter is just a little more than 14 feet, four inches (4.37m).

Please include “School Supplies” in the memo box or line. When the pandemic hit, Fostering Change lost the home for its distributions when the Leominster Knights of Columbus Hall could no longer be used. And foster parents might have to scramble in terms of time or money to buy the school supplies those children need. “Every single ounce of what people supply and provide us with [will help],” English said. “It’s community showing community.” For a list of suggested items to buy for the drive, visit the wishlists on Amazon ( https://amzn.to/3RSlX3b) and Target ( https://bit.ly/3czU53Q). Physical or virtual gift cards from Target, Amazon, Staples and Visa will also be accepted. Over the last couple of years, English said, the number of foster children assisted through the collection drive has “almost doubled, unfortunately, so we have a lot more kids we service than we did in previous years.” Fostering Change has been able to bring in enough items and money for both the Supplies for Success Drive and its annual Christmas gift collection drive, which in 2022 will mark its eighth year. The organization English founded to help foster families, Fostering Change, has since 2018 held the Supplies for Success Drive to collect the necessities foster children in pre-kindergarten through college undergraduate will need to head back to school. English estimated that more than 200 foster children would get back-to-school items through the fifth annual Supplies for Success Drive. In 2021, she said, 189 foster children received supplies. “Usually,” English said, “the hardest products for us to get are high-quality backpacks, especially for our middle and high school age levels; the scientific calculators, as a lot of teachers are asking for those, as kids are doing a lot more work online as opposed to paper form; and the binders are huge, because binders are just so expensive now, as is everything.” Lindsey English of Leominster experienced this while in foster care as a teenager — entering a foster home two weeks before the start of her senior year with no back-to-school supplies.

Warming and redistribution of nitrogen inputs drive an increase in ... (Nature.com)

Anthropogenic nitrogen inputs cause major negative environmental impacts, including emissions of the important greenhouse gas N2O.

Biogeosciences, 18, 4629–4650,https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-18-4629-2021(2021). J. Atmos. Sci. 54, 2045–2059 (1997). The soil N module of IsoTONE estimates fractionational losses of N to different pathways based on δ15Nsoil (see Methods: Global dataset for δ15Nsoil). The module is based on the equations used by Houlton, Bai 38 and Bai et al. PNAS 113, E2608–E2616 (2016). Glob. Change Biol. 18, 435–447 (2012). The sample-specific reported ancillary data was compared to the global gridded datasets at the same geographical locations (see Supplementary Note 1). The strongest relationships between ancillary data and emission factors were determined, and used to bin emission factor data into 16 different geographical regions to simplify comparison with modelled emission factors and minimise the impact of localised emission hotspots (see details in Supplementary Note 1: N2O emission factors). The δ15N grid (see Methods: Global dataset for δ15Nsoil; Supplementary Fig. 2a) was first initialised in each model run by adding 5% of the uncertainty in δ15N (Supplementary Fig. 2b) multiplied by a normally distributed random number (μ = 0, σ = 1). For each grid cell, the soil model was initialised with an available soil nitrogen pool of size 1 (unitless) with δ15N of 0‰, and a soil N2O pool of of size 1 (unitless) with δ15N and δ15NSP of 0‰. The 14N input rate (ki) was set at 1 (unitless) and the 15N input rate (ki,15) calculated using δ15Ni of 0.5‰ (based on 39, 112, 113, 114). Changing the unitless pool sizes affects only the number of iterations until steady state is reached in the model, and not the final result of the model. The spatial distribution of N inputs plays a key role in determining the overall global EF for N2O (Fig. 4). The mean global EF for N2O weighted by area was 1.1 ± 0.1%, close to the IPCC default value of 1.4% for combined direct and indirect emissions 72, 73. This caused the rate of change for the tropospheric N2O burden to peak at 0.026 nmol mol−1 a−1 a−1 (Fig. 2). After 2015, the growth rate of emissions strongly decreased, meaning the 10-year mean growth for 2010–2020 was 0.14 Tg N2O-N a−1 a−1 and thus within then normal range for the last half-century (Fig. 2). Fluctuations in the growth rate for tropospheric background N2O mixing ratio reflected the growth rate in emissions driven by different input categories. The 10-year mean growth of total anthropogenic N2O emissions was between 0 and 0.04 Tg N2O-N a−1 a−1 until ~1945 (Fig. 2). Between 1945 and 1980 the 10-year mean growth rate in emissions increased to 0.12 ± 0.02 Tg N2O-N a−1 a−1 due to rapid growth in fertiliser inputs, after which it stabilised at around 0.1 Tg N2O-N a−1 a−1, corresponding to a steady rate of change of around 0.015 nmol mol−1 a−1 a−1 in tropospheric background N2O growth rate. In 2020, 60% of N2O emitted from soils (7.5 ± 0.4 Tg N2O-N a−1) was produced from denitrification and 39% (4.7 ± 0.8 Tg N2O-N a−1) from nitrification. Natural N2O emissions are dominated by N inputs from fixation (4.7 ± 0.8 Tg N2O-N a−1, 90% of natural emissions). In contrast, anthropogenic soil emissions are dominated by N inputs from deposition (70% of 1940 and 51% of 2020 emissions), although fertilisation is becoming increasingly important (14% of 1940 and 22% of 2020 emissions) (Table 1). The spatial distribution of emissions from fertilisation, deposition and fixation for natural and anthropogenic soils for 2020 is shown in Supplementary Fig. 12, with ‘anthropogenic emissions’ referring to all emissions above the preindustrial baseline, thus accounting for both direct and indirect anthropogenic N2O sources.

This calculation doesn’t take the halving of the fuel excise in March 2022 into account. However, Australians are expected to go back to paying the full excise on September 28, 2022, which will likely lead to a jump in fuel prices. For the average car commuter in Greater Melbourne, who travels 16.58 kilometres to work (compared to 19.1 kilometres in the rest of Victoria), a $50 refill will now get you 13 one-way trips to work, compared to 21.5 trips in 2019-20. That commute would have cost $969 over that 12-month period for a passenger vehicle with a post-2015 average fuel economy of 10.4 litres per 100 kilometres and with petrol costing 135 cents per litre in Victoria in 2019-20. In Victoria, people who commute to work in a car drove, on average, a total of 6900 kilometres each over the 12 months to June 30, 2020, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures. At current fuel prices, people in Victoria are paying $629 more over the year to drive to work than they did in 2019-2020.
