Former Otago junior Nathan Xu had to dig deep to win the Otago Open men's singles on Saturday. Xu, now based in Auckland, beat Alfred Dela-Pena (Waitemata) ...

Duffy and Gina Liu combined to win the open mixed doubles against Dela-Pena and Southlandโ€™s Gemma Buzzard in a close match. It featured some exciting rallies, which Xu dominated. Four of the world's most epic cycling adventures (Stuff.co.nz)

It's hard to beat travelling by bike. Drive and you can blink and miss the best sites.

Ride out to picturesque Serpentine Dam for an early morning swim and, after a steep ascent, chill out beneath the butter gums at Dandalup campsite or take a detour to Oakley Dam for another dip. On two wheels, you can go at your own pace, savouring the sights, sounds and smells of the landscapes that unfurl before you. Rustic restaurants turning out decadent local specialities such as coq au riesling and roadside wine cellars will routinely tempt you to take time out.
