It’s been tough for them,” Alexander said. Kenneath Bromwich 15. Harry Grant 10. Jesse Bromwich 9. Grant Anderson 6. He returned to the field in a timely boost for the Warriors but it wasn’t long before he had to shift from hooker to five-eighth after Chanel Harris-Tavita succumbed to a leg injury. “The Warriors certainly have worried the Storm’s right side defence, which has been a problem for them all year since the injuries have seen different players come in to fill the spots. “He only had to do what he did twice in the first half,” Fox League commentator Warren Smith said of Kosi. Egan copped an elbow in a tackle and was sent from the field for a HIA also with concerns of a serious jaw injury. Kosi crossed in the corner off a Chanel Harris-Tavita cutout pass in the 20th minute, then again off a similar pass from Wayde Egan in the 33rd minute and also in the 63rd minute off a Shaun Johnson pass. Wayde Egan overcame an injury scare following an elbow from Nelson Asofa-Solomona to shift to the halves to star for the Warriors as Harris-Tavita’s replacement at five-eighth. It was a tight tussle at Mt Smart Stadium in the first hour of the clash before the Storm finally clicked into the gear with crucial tries to Jahrome Hughes and Nick Meaney in the second half.

It continued a recent pattern of lapses just after the interval. The cynical side of the Storm was apparent in the first half. The Warriors responded, forcing consecutive goal line dropouts – but had no end product – before the Storm produced the ultimate counter attack, with a 60m move brilliantly finished by Nick Meaney. Egan left the field for a head injury assessment but the Melbourne prop avoided the sinbin. But the Storm always looked more dangerous. Wing Edward Kosi had a special night, with a hat-trick of tries (all unconverted), while Tohu Harris set a high standard against his former team.
