Emma McKeon's brutal reality exposed (NEWS.com.au)

Emma McKeon's been smashing it at the Commonwealth Games but instead of riding high on a wave of success, she's dealing with something else entirely.

McKeon’s performance at the Commonwealth Games is a master class in being a professional swimmer; she’s one of the best athletes this country has ever seen. Yes, we do it to men as well, hence why Chalmers recently unleashed at a press conference and said: “Not one thing was spoken about how we broke the Commonwealth record and won the gold medal last night. The problem is the fanfare around her love life is now threatening to eclipse her career success. And she is one of the most famous musicians of all time. Or look at Jennifer Lopez, one of the most successful women of all time, and everyone is talking more about her marriage to Ben Affleck than her next film. However, when a man speaks out, he’s seen as brave rather than a whinger.

“I don’t have anything else to say, it’s rough,” he said. “And for me it’s taking too much of a toll on my mental health. I wouldn’t have been able to get through it without my teammates. “I’m not a robot. I think it’s easy to put on a brave face and smile. The South Australian — who won 100m freestyle gold at the Rio Olympics and silver at last year’s Tokyo Games — is eyeing off another medal in his pet event this week. Standing up in front of big crowds and swimming fast, but I don’t want the rest of it. “You can’t just expect the headlines to always be great. We have feelings, we have emotions, we’re no different than anyone else. I love being part of the Australian swimming team. “I don’t want any of this. “It is extremely hard.

It’s a swim team. Whether it’s at the Olympics or Commonwealth Games, Australia’s swimmers are considered a team within a team, although some officials dispute this. Cody Simpson Wins Gold at a Major Swimming Meet (Billboard)

Simpson earned the bling for his contribution to the Australian men's 4x100m freestyle relay team in Birmingham, England.

Simpson has now made an impression on the Games in the pool and with the mic. In 2017, he performed at Buckingham Palace for the launch of the Queen’s Baton Relay, ahead of the competition in his hometown, the Gold Coast. The Australian all-rounder graduated to the top class of elite sport over the weekend, when he snagged gold in the pool during competition at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

'It's pretty wild': Simpson ticks off another goal by making 100m fly final (The Sydney Morning Herald)

Before the Commonwealth Games, Cody Simpson declared his goal was to make a final. On Monday, he did just that, and anything from here is a bonus.

We’ll be live blogging the action from 4pm-10am daily. “It’s pretty amazing,” said Levy, who competed at his first Paralympics in 2004. While Simpson’s tale is one to admire, Temple is the favourite and shouldn’t be forgotten. “It’s challenging and I’m not going to lie and say I wasn’t scared to do it. Levy hit the lead early and used every bit of his experience and toughness to keep a narrow lead in the one lap splash-and-dash. I will probably go back and watch it right away and make sure there are things I can find [to improve].” McKeon chalked up a fourth gold for these Games - and a 12th in her storied career - with victory in the 50m butterfly, which is not an Olympic event, in a time of 25.90. “I didn’t know if I was going to be able to do it,” McKeown said. His training partner, Chalmers, has yearned for the spotlight to be on his mate, and he has as good an opportunity as he will get to win a maiden individual Commonwealth Games medal. McKeon, meanwhile, continued to blitz her opponents, this time in the 100m freestyle semi-finals before a gold in the 50m butterfly. The singer, who paused his music career to chase Olympic glory in Paris, has a personal best of 51.79 in the 100m butterfly, achieved in the heats at the Australian trials in May. That time would have seen Simpson qualify in third place for the final in Birmingham. He will almost certainly have to go quicker to cap one of the most incredible introductions to international swimming, considering he only got serious about the sport two years ago.
