How do they grow all that weed? Inside a new 270000-square-foot ... (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

Columbia Care's new 750000-square-food cannabis growing facility in Vineland, N.J., is just under the size of a typical Amazon warehouse and was, indeed, ...

It can take eight to 12 weeks for a flower to achieve the size and color needed for harvesting. Griffith said that in larger states with well established markets, a single mother plant can be worth millions because of all the cuttings it yields and are sold to other companies. The light is calibrated to ensure the proper amount of photosynthesis for the plants to flower. The hopper contains 14 scales that sorts flowers by size and weight down to the gram. “It’s been sort of tweaked a little bit to do cannabis as well. Growers experiment with a number of seeds to find the right mix of sativa or indica. Workers take small cuttings off the plants and place them in a nutrient solution as clones. And there’s a lot of ground for shoes to cover: The former shipping and logistics warehouse on West Park Avenue has been renovated specifically for weed operations and employs 35 people full-time. Anthony said using cuttings from a mother plant ensures customers get the same experience for a particular strain each time. The inside of the facility resembles a clean computer chip plant, or even a hospital with long, wide, white corridors and secure doors. The Inquirer agreed to not shoot pictures or video of certain proprietary methods or machinery. Adults are allowed to buy up to one ounce of cannabis in a visit.

In 1981 Iris was defeated by John Le Fondré, father of the former Chief Minister, John Le Fondré. This was after her interest in joining the Honorary Police was discouraged, as at the time it was seen as a man's role. Iris became Chairman of the Communicare Management Committee, in which she argued strongly for the creation of a day centre for the elderly.

Why Kevin Smith's 'Jersey Girl' Is a Wholesome Triumph Worth ... (Collider.com)

With Clerks 3 coming soon, and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez back together it's time to revisit Kevin Smith's 2004 film Jersey Girl.

As long as you are chasing after the life you really want, you are a superhero in the eyes of Kevin Smith. Vilmos Zsigmond’s cinematography is warm and beautiful, Liv Tyler delivers one of her best performances, and even Will Smith shows up for a memorable cameo. Consider, for example, the conclusion of Smith’s next film Clerks II, in which Dante (Brian O’Halloran) decides to stay in New Jersey with his best friends and marry the woman (Rosario Dawson) who truly loves him. Jersey Girl is a surprisingly wholesome, Capraesque film that celebrates adulthood and commitment to family. Jersey Girl was the first Kevin Smith film to be set outside his View Askewniverse and did not feature the many hockey-playing, comic-reading, slacker characters that Smith fans had come to know and love (only Liv Tyler’s character feels like she belongs in a typical Kevin Smith movie). Instead, it took a more traditional rom-com approach. Jersey Girl stars Affleck as a New York music publicist and Lopez as his wife, who dies during childbirth.

The Manly rainbow jersey debate continues to divide the proud ... (New Zealand Herald)

Roberts, who is the only openly gay man to play in the NRL (National Rugby League), has shared his reaction on Te Ao with Moana (Whakaata Māori) to Manly Sea ...

All I was looking for was for him to perform," Lowe says. "I really think it's been a kind of a healthy thing. "When the idea came up to wear this jersey and help promote the inclusiveness and whatnot, there was probably a lot of enthusiasm but everything happened too quickly. It was incredibly, incredibly powerful." Well, now the shoe's on the other foot but they shouldn't be penalised." "I think that while they're together they'll feel pretty strong together but there'll be times when they're on their own and doubt will come into their actions. "It was devastating to get that news for me. It empowers young people." "It has potentially catastrophic consequences for some kids out there in the suburbs. I was supposed to do some other publicity and it was just too much, mate. Before I came out, I had this reluctance to come out because I was leading a gay life anyway. They need representation."

Boxes are left on the Ecrehous and Minquiers with masks, gloves and bags to collect carcasses.

The department said: "While the general advice remains not to touch or remove dead wild seabirds, in order to obtain fresh carcasses for testing, we are asking that visitors to the offshore reefs that feel comfortable doing so safely bring carcasses back." New Jersey's Drew U faces off with its town over land sale (Inside Higher Ed)

Drew University has accused Madison, N.J., officials, in a legal filing, of acting in bad faith by preventing the sale of university land.

“For a very long time, it was preserved because of the commitment of the university alone. “It would be nothing less than tragic for the people of Madison, Morris County and indeed all of New Jersey to lose this precious resource.” To Drew students, the forest preserve is an integral part of the campus experience. Drew is not the only institution re-evaluating its physical campus and downsizing in light of declining enrollment trends. “Drew is too important to Madison to have it struggle, so we’re there with them,” Conley said. The town reached a settlement in August 2020 with the Fair Share Housing Center, which works to enforce and expand affordable housing laws. Madison officials, community members and some Drew students and alumni have opposed plans to turn 45 acres of the forestland into housing. The calculation was part of a lengthy legal process to determine whether the town was complying with state affordable housing laws. “Proceeds from any land sale will go directly to improving the strength of the University’s endowment and be dedicated to providing financial support to deserving students.” The private university of about 2,200 students, located in the small town of nearly 17,000, has struggled financially amid declining enrollment and other financial challenges related to the pandemic. After years of protracted talks, the town leaders refused to support the sale of the land, which is mostly undeveloped forestland that could be developed into affordable housing. University officials have made no secret of the cash-strapped institution’s need for the money the sale would provide.

N.J. Supreme Court clarifies when inmates can win compassionate ... (New Jersey Monitor)

The case is the first test of a 2021 law intended to broaden the number of people eligible to be released from prison because of physical incapacity.

Physicians noted only that he had a “diminished” ability to perform daily living activities and would eventually need assistance if released, Patterson wrote. A 2018 study by the Pew Charitable Trusts found that state and federal prison populations were graying, sending care costs surging. Please see our republishing guidelines for use of photos and graphics. But in F.E.D.’s case, that issue becomes irrelevant because he didn’t prove his physical incapacity, Patterson wrote. An appeals court agreed. Last year, a physician working for the state Department of Corrections submitted a compassionate release petition for F.E.D. because he had several cardiac conditions that slowed his ability to perform activities of basic daily living, according to Wednesday’s opinion.
