“Based on pure hard work at his craft and then executing on the big stage. That is a deadset try-saver every day of the week. He couldn’t find a role at either club. He is getting his running game back. “One game for the Cowboys, One for the Titans. It is about involving himself at the right time in the crucial moments. What an evolution as a player. He is getting everything back.” “His anticipation is amazing. What a rise. He is just one of those players. He turns up for everything.”

Incredible trysaver seals Roosters' finals spot (Wide World of Sports)

The Canterbury Bulldogs have reportedly joined the race for St George Illawarra Dragons captain Ben Hunt.

The Roosters are down to 12 - and it's Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the thick of it! "He's the unsung hero, so to speak. He brings a physical presence and sometimes he gets it wrong." This has been a grind - but this is a big swing in the Roosters' favour! Oh this is really, really awful - Victor Radley has got his head in the wrong spot and has been knocked out cold trying to make a tackle. With the ball and without the ball he adds value to this side.

Roosters dig deep to hold off Storm in epic contest (NRL.COM)

With the finals just a fortnight away the Sydney Roosters made a huge statement with a dramatic 18-14 win over the Storm on Friday night.

I thought we were just a bit off for the first 20 minutes, we defended far too much and that took a lot of juice out of the tank. Victor Radley (concussion) and Daniel Tupou (groin) will be monitored but could struggle to get up for the clash. You end up having to defend a lot like we did on our tryline and we held our hands up really well for most of the game and that was really pleasing. "We were physical tonight, we wanted to take it to them, we did that and then we were a bit scrappy on the back end of it, obviously when we had enough opportunies and it ended up being quite a scrappy game but it turned into a different style of game. We did have a bit of emotion before the game but that's no excuse for our poor start, that should probably give us a bit of energy. The back-rower got a great ball away to James Tedesco who got it to Victor Radley and on to Luke Keary who looked up and saw Storm winger David Nofoaluma had come well infield so he put in a pinpoint kick to the corner which Joey Manu gathered to score.

They almost managed it but Xavier Coates was able to cross shortly before the Roosters were restored to their full complement of players. Referee Adam Gee had warned both captains only moments earlier so it was no surprise when the Tricolours veteran was placed on report and sent for 10, leaving his teammates to attempt to hold Melbourne at bay. Asofa-Solomona first had a run-in with Victor Radley and then with fellow Kiwi Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
