After hitting Brooklyn's Barclays center in 2021, the MTV Video Music Awards returned to the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on Sunday (Aug. 28).

Jack Harlow opened up the VMAs with class – “First Class,” that is, performing his Billboard Hot 100 No. Shortly after winning the VMA for artist of the year, Bad Bunny – who was on the east coast but not at the VMAs – took over the VMAs broadcast one state over in New York’s Yankee Stadium.
