Minute-by-minute report: Can Eddie Howe's side move up to fourth with victory at Molineux? Join Daniel Harris.
His cross is a decent one too, but Neto, arriving on the scene just before Pope, has to flicks quickly before the keeper blocks, and sends a fair effort onto the roof of the net. On the face of things, that’s a problem, but looking at their squad, it’s easy to feel optimistic for them: Pedro Neto is still feeling his way back, Gonçalo Guedes is settling, Nathan Collins is promising and Matheus Nunes is a potential gamechanger. It feels wrong to call a draw a statement performance, but it’s no less right for that – and that was before they added Alexander Isaak into the mix. Oh, and Lage still hopes to get in a couple more players, also noting that Guedes has just found a home – mazal tov, old mate – and Nunes has a bag of clothes. Moutinho collects a loose ball just outside his own box and pretty central, leaping in a glorious inside-out pass that swerves out to Guedes on the right. He’s got the legs on Burn, and Wolves need to feed him whenever they can. 10 min Neto is enjoying himself now, dashing down the left and standing up a cross this time … but he can’t shovel it out from under his feet and get it on target, shooting a couple of yards wide. 16 min Wolves get the corner away and one pass, swept out to Guedes by Neves, turns the play. But mistiming his jump slightly, he gets under a ball he needs to be over, half-heading, half-shouldering a poor effort over the top from eight yards. He has a look, then lays back to Neves, in space 20 yards out, and when the ball arrives, he takes a touch then lashes a gloriously pure drive through Willock’s legs – he’ll not want to see that one again – that fizzes past Pope and into the bottom left. He might want to get tighter after the break, because standing off is allowing his man to the space to get moving, and one-on-one, he’s struggling.
Eddie Howe's team are unbeaten but head to Molineux to face a more attack-minded Wolves team.
No player has had more shots from outside the box in the Premier League this season than Neves’ seven, contributing to Wolves’ total of 24, a league-high. A defensive header lands at the feet of Longstaff, who looks to tee up Saint-Maximin, but it's a poor final ball that leaves the Frenchman with too much to do. Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United A win for them today would lift them into fourth ahead of Tottenham’s game later on. There were signs of fine link play between Goncalo Guedes, Matheus Nunes and Pedro Neto at times last week and all three start today, with Raul Jimenez also back in. [Eddie Howe](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/eddie-howe) made nine changes for the clash on Merseyside, and will likely reshuffle his side once again. Wolves are still searching for their first top-flight win of the season, having picked up a solitary point so far. The full-back brings Semedo down, and gives Wolves the chance to swing a ball into the box. Keeper does well to close the angle down and it's a corner for Newcastle. The midfielder appears to have rolled his ankle and looks to be in a little bit of discomfort. Couple of passes later, Longstaff goes for it but the ball is blocked and goes behind for a corner. A threatening ball in from Trippier is turned behind for a corner, and the set-piece finds Joelinton at the far post. Jimenez nicks the ball off Trippier, and it's a superb cross in for Nunes.

Wearing the captain’s armband, it was a goal from nowhere as he picked his moment, took his touch, and then curved the ball past Nick Pope. Ruben Neves has given Wolverhampton Wanderers a fantastic goal. Wolves fans are hoping it's not a going-away present. If it is, it's a thoughtful one.
Neves has 25 goals and 12 assists in 217 career appearances with Wolves after making his name as a teenager at Porto. He surprised with a move to the then-Championship side Wolves in 2017 and helped the club to Premier League promotion with six goals. Neves is the gift that’s going to keep giving until his final gift of a big transfer fee, and the Portuguese international has already spent longer at the Molineux than many expected upon his signing with Wolves.
