Grand jury indicts suspect charged in cold case New Bedford rape ... (SouthCoastToday.com)

Suspect indicted on 2 counts of rape, 2 counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 and one count of witness intimidation.

If the 1997 rape kit had been fully tested at the time, the Marlene Rose DNA evidence would have matched to that 1997 case and Loflin would have been arrested in connection to the Marlene Rose homicide. That rape kit was sent up to the state lab three weeks after the rape, but unbeknownst to law enforcement, it had never been fully tested. Loflin was then charged here in Bristol County with Marlene Rose’s murder and was eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison in November of 2013. The office then began the painstaking process of inventorying and prioritizing all untested rape kits in Bristol County, and are now in the process of getting all 1,148 previously untested Bristol County rape kits fully tested by a private lab under the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant obtained by District Attorney Quinn in 2019. “I appreciate that the victim in this case has expressed gratitude for our efforts in not forgetting about her case. The statute of limitations on this case would have expired in July 2027. Two of those cases have been publicly announced, while the third still remains a sealed matter at this time. “I am very pleased our rape kit initiative has resulted in the indictment of the defendant. However, after the Bristol County District Attorney's Office became aware of the scope and breadth of the problem with untested rape kits, action was taken to obtain a federal grant. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford on July 4, 2012, the victim submitted to a rape kit. The victim immediately went to the hospital with her friend and New Bedford Police were contacted. The court will likely set an arraignment date for the new indictment for sometime in September.

Yet some viewers think the real culprit may be Dr Gerald 'Jack' Owens (Adam James), especially after he referred Bobby Moran (Bobby Schofield) to Joe.

He added: "We talked about the side effects of the medication, how he deals with the physical side of things. "Something struck me in one of the early conversations we had when he said how difficult it was when you're young with this condition. Drew went to one of these support groups early on and he was the youngest person there." We also spoke about how it was for him in the early stages. "I met a musician called Drew Hallam who was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's around five years ago when he was 35," he recalled. Some viewers also suggested that James has a history of playing villains.

There's just no way Aidan Turner is the killer in ITV's The Suspect (British GQ)

With a plethora of evidence already stacking up against Turner's shifty psychologist in ITV's The Suspect, he can't be the guy who actually did it. Right?

[police](https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/joe-lycett-joke-police-investigation) agree, quite rightly, that he can't be trusted and decide not to share anything more with him. Owing to his expertise, the police call him in to examine the body of a presumed sex worker found in a graveyard with twenty superficial cuts and one critical blow. At least this one has Poldark's [Aidan Turner](https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/new-james-bond) (albeit this time with a great big, bushy beard) taking on a pointedly shifty Janus of a psychologist, the stack of coincidences linking him to a recent murder so high as to make it seem nailed on from the start.

The Suspect viewers praise series for making 'brave decision' (What's On TV)

The Suspect kicked off on ITV and fans were impressed with the way they portrayed a sensitive topic.

Lucy joined the WhatToWatch.com team in 2021, where she writes series guides for must-watch programmes, reviews and the latest TV news. Episodes are also available on ITV Hub. To speak with somebody so open and truthful about his experience was very beneficial. We met a few times to talk about how he deals with the condition and copes with it. Also, really nice to see a main character with Parkinson’s. #thesuspect i’ve read dozens of comments so far , not one mentions the fact the main character has young onset parkinson’s!

When Aidan Turner first turns up in The Suspect I don't know ... (The Irish Times)

TV review: The Dublin actor is virtually unrecognisable behind a vast, loamy craft beard. But his low-key, chill-dude energy keeps this potboiler grounded.

He is also a steadying influence on what could easily have been an over-the-top potboiler (and possibly still is). And then it emerges that the dead woman is a former patient of Joe’s and that she claimed he had sexually assaulted her (an assertion later withdrawn). It is while doing so that he sneaks into the morgue for some weird alone time with the body. But Turner has gone in a completely different direction with The Suspect (Monday, ITV), a ripe thriller in which he is virtually unrecognisable behind a vast, loamy craft beard (and which airs on a channel that has only patchy availability in Ireland). Later, he manoeuvres himself so that he is hired to help with the murder inquiry as a consultant. That series reimagined da Vinci as a tortured Lothario rather than as a painter with a sideline in helicopter design.
