A second, larger, boat was alongside the capsized boat and a helicopter was flying overhead. "We went back and got a diver, brought them to the scene and then once we had done that, it was taken care of by the coastguard and the police." Pilot Daniel Stevenson was one of the first on the scene and said, "We saw an upturned boat with a fella sitting on top of it and the coastguard arrived shortly afterwards." "We basically went down to have a look and make sure, if there was anybody floating in the water, that we could keep an eye on them until they were able to get a boat alongside and be rescued out of the water. There were no obvious signs of damage and the boat was loaded onto a trailer and taken away by a police ute. It was reported to authorities that the boat had been overturned by a whale.
