Raiders keep season alive with stunning Storm upset (NRL.COM)

The Canberra Raiders have sent Melbourne packing from the 2022 premiership race with a stunning 28-20 upset at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

We were out on our legs on a number of phases of that game both in the first and second half. That will be the first ever finals meeting between the Raiders and Eels. The way the players hung in tonight makes me so proud and we got a slick of luck with that header. "You don't win finals games letting the opposition score 28 and we let a couple of soft ones in too. With Kiwi maestro Jahrome Hughes back at the helm the Storm looked more like their old selves and the halfback had his fingerpints all over the first two tries, both scored by Xavier Coates. Fogarty's ice cool conversion made it 28-20 to the visitors and the upset was complete.

Raiders book semi-finals spot with fifth straight win in Melbourne (Canberra Raiders)

The Canberra Raiders defeated the Melbourne Storm 28-20 at AAMI Park on Saturday night, in the first elimination final of the 2022 finals.

The Storm chose to attempt a penalty goal which was unsuccessful and following an error would give the ball back to the green machine. After some second-phase play, Hughes found Coates once again in the right corner who crossed over for his second in the 21st minute. The Storm would get the ball back with 90 seconds remaining in the match but Whitehead stole the ball on the final play to book the Raiders a spot in the semi-finals. The Storm would strike first in the second half after taking advantage of an overlap on their right side, it was a great run from Seve who found Munster who assisted Coates for a hattrick in the 44th minute. It was then the Raiders who took advantage of their first chance of the match in the following set after an offload from Tapine found Wighton, before Timoko opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Unfortunately for the Raiders, it was a fast start for the Storm who forced an error on the away side's goal line in the second minute.
