Geelong are as well-prepared and evenly balanced as you’d like any premiers to be. It would prove a major upset if they fell at the final hurdle. They have the utensils and the tactical nous to pick Geelong apart. Geelong’s scoring power just gives them an edge. The Cats are fresh, haven’t been beaten since May and have weapons across the entire field. Sydney are even - but Geelong are even better. The two teams are equally good in the contest and defensively. Geelong’s offence will be too strong for Sydney’s tight back shoulder defence. Prediction: Geelong by 8 points. Prediction: Geelong by 15 points. It’ll be a game of swinging momentum, but the chemistry and connection from Geelong’s back half to their forward half will overwhelm Sydney over four quarters. 'Colossal' star gets monkey off back; all-time redemption story's perfect ending: Cats Ratings.
Was important early in helping the Cats lock the ball in their front yarn. Was busy across half-forward and the wing early and found plenty of the footy. As he’s done several times this year, got better as the game wore on after a quiet first half. Hard on the inside but classy on the outside. Added another in the second term. Seemed to run with Tom Papley for large stints of the match and had him well beaten. Had a big moment at the start of the third term, winning a free kick for holding the ball and converting his set-shot. Was the beneficiary of the Swans tagging Tom Stewart and Jack Henry taking Lance Franklin. He had 12 touches in the first term — he had 12 for the entire preliminary final — four intercepts and three score involvements to set the tone. His run and carry, as well as his ability to finish in front of goal, was brilliant. A premiership player in his 250th game — not a bad day to say the least. The dominant ruck on the ground.

Mitch Duncan snuck up on the Swan like cricket season after the final game of the footy, and brought him to the turf. It was the perfect moment in a perfect game for the entire Geelong Football Club community. , because until that point Geelong had been clinical without being spectacular and without huge footy moments. It was party time for the Cats when Brandan Parfitt was subbed on for Cameron Guthrie in the final quarter. With Geelong winning the ball out of the centre to start the third quarter, the Swans won a contested ball in the goal square and got the pill to Tom McCartin, who looked for an option down field. The Cats crowd was in the stands yelling "ball!"
