“Arsenal started really brightly and opened the scoring with a well-worked move, finished by Martinelli. Simon Collings at Emirates Stadium No need for alarm bells just yet, but another slip up today may change that after a few less-than-impressive performances.
20 - Aged 21 years and 55 days, Bukayo Saka is the third-youngest player to assist 20 goals in the Premier League: 19y 352d - Cesc Fàbregas 20y 300d - Wayne ...
Tomiyasu is the latest Arsenal player to have a dig, this from a corner. The Gunners are suddenly in need of a lift. he sees Martinelli darting in, making a diagonal run across, he fires it in towards him and the Brazilian gets a clinical header on it, beyond Henderson. All of Forest's threat has come from Arsenal errors, including that moment of insanity from Gabriel a few minutes before the break. Arsenal are top of the league. Worrying moments for Arsenal and England as Bukayo Saka limps off the pitch. More pain was to come for Forest, with Martin Odegaard soon lashing a fine finish high into the net after he had combined with Jesus inside the area. Nelson scored his second just three minutes later, converting a cross from Jesus, before the winger rolled a simple pass into Partey on the edge of the box. Nelson ended the day with two goals and an assist to his name, playing a major role in three of Arsenal’s five strikes past Forest’s alarmingly flimsy defence. The 22-year-old had not featured in the Premier League since August last year, but here he played with the same daring and skill that Saka so often provides. Not only that: Nelson went on to contribute in the same decisive manner that Saka has done so regularly in an Arsenal shirt. For much of Reiss Nelson’s time in the Arsenal academy, he was regarded as the club’s most outrageously talented young attacker.
Arsenal host Nottingham Forest on Sunday as Mikel Arteta's side aim to get back on track and stay top of the Premier League table with a win.
The Belgian star, 31, arrived at Chelsea from Werder Bremen at the age of 22 and managed only 425 in a half-season before being offloaded to Wolfsburg. Left-sided beauty leads to intriguing off-kilter viewing (Fulham 0-0 Everton): Rarely do you see a contest featuring such a stark contrast between where attacks are finding their joy. Stunning goals lead to split between Bees, Wolves (Brentford 1-1 Wolves): Quality scoring chances were largely few and far between at the Gtech Community Stadium, but a pair of stunning goals made up for the dearth of danger, as the Bees and Wolves settled on a 1-1 draw in west London on Saturday. Palace goes to Plan B when Plan Z is off (Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton): Odsonne Edouard has scored all three of his goals this season in Crystal Palace’s last six games, during which time he also has a game-winning assist, as the Eagles work out an alternate plan to “give the ball to Wilfried Zaha, hope he can beat four defenders and put the ball in the top corner.” It’s hardly revolutionary or genius stuff from Patrick Vieira, but Palace has found lots of joy in simply crossing the ball into the box, with Edouard crashing through the middle and Eberechi Eze arriving late for cut-backs while Zaha and Andre Ayew/Michael Olise head for the back post. Man City without Haaland in 2022-23 looks unsurprisingly like Man City 2021-22 (Leicester 0-1 Man City): With all due respect to Man City’s monstrous team and the huge potential of Julian Alvarez, Saturday was a throwback to Man City’s title-winning 2021-22 season. No, the club is decidedly not reminding anyone of the SIr Alex Ferguson era in terms of quality, but the pride and strength of will sure look something closer to what we remember from the Red Devils when they were one of the finest teams in the world (and one of most dreaded to compete against over 90 minutes). Harry Maguire a big part of Man Utd’s brave finish vs West Ham (Man Utd 1-0 West Ham): Erik ten Hag has changed the attitude at Old Trafford. Chelsea needs a break, Seagulls quite comfortable (Brighton 4-1 Chelsea): Brighton still needs a center forward to achieve its potential, but everything else looks as it did under Graham Potter and that’s a good thing. Feel-good Nelson flexes depth after Saka injury (Arsenal 5-0 Nottingham Forest): Wrestling fans know about the full nelson and the half-nelson, now football fans can have the feel-good Nelson. One is Antonio Conte’s continued insistence on playing out of the back and defending far too deep in Spurs’ own half of the field (discussed here and here). Leeds are one of the toughest teams in the PL to beat, and typically those teams see losses turn to draws and draws turn to losses with a bit of patience*. Willy Boly will soon-enough get a look, too, as Forest has plenty of attacking pieces but needs help at the back to hang with top attacks.

Arsenal hammered Nottingham Forest 5-0 on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium but the Premier League table-topping win saw an injury to Bukayo Saka.

We returned to winning ways in convincing fashion at the Emirates, with Reiss Nelson coming off the bench to claim a brace. Gabriel Martinelli set us on the ...
The winger was on the wrong end of a kick in the first couple of minutes, and spent the next 25 minutes or so trying to run it off. Not content with that, he added an assist for our fourth goal – though in honesty it was all about the finish. After good work from Odegaard and Jesus, he ghosted across at the near post to flick in the third. But he was clearly in some discomfort, and he was replaced by Nelson – his first Premier League appearance since the opening day of last season. Partey was next to try his luck, but his shot from the edge of the box was blocked, and Takehiro Tomiyasu had a volley deflected behind in a lively opening ten minutes. The Brazilian continued his run to get on the end of Saka’s low cross with a great diving header, darting in ahead of his marker.
