Skipper Sophie Devine believes the depth built by the White Ferns is the most pleasing aspect of their preparations for the T20 World Cup.
“I know how threatening she can be with that extra pace and bounce, and the way she’s been able to harness that with her accuracy has been really pleasing,” Devine said. She’s always wanting to be batting more and batting higher and bowling more overs, and you want people like that in your team. That same label can easily be applied to Tahuhu, especially after she was snubbed by New Zealand Cricket for a central contract six months ago. Devine was most satisfied with those contesting the final few spots of the 15-player squad that will kick off their World Cup campaign against Australia on February 12, saying she was thankful to avoid the task of selection. That trio weren’t alone in guiding the hosts to a series sweep. Kerr will be one of those for many years to come.
When Jess Kerr presented Rebecca Burns with her White Ferns' debut cap four days ago she was quick to point out a fact that was nothing short of remarkable.
She was a well known Tawa girl, I grew up looking up to her and it's pretty cool to be playing with her," Burns said. I'm glad there wasn't so much internet and social media as there is these days because I was outside pretty much from sun up to sun down," Devine said. Her aunty taught me Japanese and music," Burns said. I've played with a few of Melie's younger cousins too." department you've got Sophie and the Kerr's there as well," Plimmer said. If you're narrowing it down even further to have four of us live around that one street, again it's pretty mind-blowing." I remember she was the first girl to wear shorts so everyone knew about it. "She was pretty much not at school at that point, I'd only see her around school a few times. "When we got told that Becs [Burns] would be coming in the first thing I thought was 'another Tawa girl!'. Georgia Plimmer seven, and Jess Kerr was the number nine batter. "Melie [Amelia] was year 12 at that point. "I was pretty oblivious to it all, it was probably only later on in life that Mum and Dad sort of explained a bit further around the effort that a lot of people went through to be able to get me to play in the boys' team.
The White Ferns have sealed a series sweep against Bangladesh after earning a 63-run win in the third T20 in Queenstown.
Tahuhu finished 4-13 in the contest as Rumana Ahmed did her best to recover the innings with 25 runs before she was sent back to the clubhouse by Carson. In reply Bangladesh again struggled to put any partnerships together as Tahuhu continued her domination with the ball, taking the first three wickets in her first three overs of work while spinner Eden Carson chipped in a handy 2-19. Devine opened with 47 runs off 33 balls before Kerr headed to the crease for an unbeaten 48 off 31; Lea Tahuhu also made a fiery cameo late with 17 runs from eight deliveries.

N Akter not out 8 (8) She was run out for six trying to scamper through for a single. Tahuhu took care of the rest. She charged Fariha Trisna and was bowled for a four-ball duck. Suzie Bates danced down the wicket, swung hard, missed and was stumped for nine. They showed plenty of intent, but the execution was off.
Amelia Kerr and Lea Tahuhu proved far too good for the visitors as NZ won the T20 series 3-0 with a 63-run victory in Queenstown.
