Residents within the declared areas must remain indoors until further notice and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area. There were at least three emergency services helicopters responding to the incident. Specialist police were making their way to the scene.

Multiple police officers have reportedly been involved in a shooting incident at Wieambilla, about three hours west of Brisbane.

The sparsely populated area is home to several large properties and gas fields. It is understood a female officer, in her first year and only a few weeks out of the police academy, managed to flee the situation and help raise the alarm. Police said they were responding to an incident about 4pm at a property on Wains Road and were forced to impose a vast exclusion zone as it unfolded.

Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll said a manhunt was underway for two offenders.

A major police investigation is underway following the deaths of multiple people including two police officers during a shooting incident in the Western.

The PSPA remains in place and a crime scene has been established at the property. A member of the public was also shot and declared deceased at the location. A siege situation ensued at the property and specialist police officers and PolAir responded.
