Shortland Street: The most audacious cliffhanger in years sets the ... (New Zealand Herald)

Well, they've finally done it. For 30 years, Shortland Street Hospital has survived wayward ambulances, armed invaders, multiple exploding cars and dozens of ...

As Scott tries to escape, Rebekah, the mysterious Brightshine leader, comes across him and reveals herself to be the true villain, as she beats Scott to death with a fire extinguisher to keep him silent. Madonna attempts to rescue her con-man ex-boyfriend Mark, whom she left in his room earlier, but an explosion prevents her from getting to him, and she is dragged out to the carpark with everyone else. TK is ordered to shut it down and evacuate everyone, but he and the team commit to staying open for the patients who can’t be moved. The fire alarms are triggered by the smoke that surrounds the hospital, and as Dawn helps evacuate people, she finds Logan unconscious and barely clinging on to life. Unlucky in love Dawn yesterday caught on to the darkness behind his religious goodwill and dumped him, leading Scott to suffocate ambulance officer Logan after believing Dawn was leaving for him. After teasers of a heat wave last week, things truly kicked off on Monday, with the surprise return of 90s and 00s fan favourite Waverley on a camping trip with most of her many children.

Shortland Street finale: Five things that left us hanging (Stuff.co.nz)

Will Brightshine church finally be brought to their knees? will Maeve go down for Scott's death? How is Chris Warner so lucky and can the new hospital have ...

Once again, Michael Galvin’s character Chris Warner stood in the middle of disaster and made it out safely. And a plane crash. Will Drew pick up the pieces of his broken family and solider on? Last seen burning around Nicole, will the Ferndale crew get a new drinking hole or are Shortland Street’s pub days over? Chris Warner looks absolutely set to return for 2023 barring last-minute, ill-fated heroics. Will she make it out, or will grief-stricken Maeve be faced with another sudden loss of a loved one? He’s already survived a fire. She’s conscious – but weak, pregnant and high-risk and being choppered out after a fair bit of will-she-won’t-she back and forth. Will she realise her mistake and come home? But the only person that saw Scott after Maeve attacked him was church leader Rebekah, who then calmly killed him with a fire extinguisher. It is also a great off-screen opportunity for a long recovery (long enough for maternity leave) before returning to run the surgical department like the badass she is, though. Esther’s future, and that of her pregnancy, is left a bit up in the air.

Where were you the day Shortland Street burnt down? (The Spinoff)

Tara Ward recaps all the flaming hot drama from the 2022 Christmas cliffhanger. Shortland Street has burned with the searing heat of Chris Warner's loins ...

It was Brightshine church leader and wealthy hospital donor Rebekah who eventually knocked the dodgy bastard off, and if Scott survives a beating, a bashing and a burning, it will be a true Christmas miracle. They escaped to the safety of Shortland Street just as embers set fire to the hospital roof, leaving the future of Shortland Street to Chris and TK, two doctors who have only ever fought the flames of their hearts. The fire began near where Marty and Esther were camping, and as they took refuge from the flames in a lake, serial proposer Marty asked Esther to marry him. It’s not a Shortland Street cliffhanger without a cheeky death or two, and when Maeve realised it was Scott who killed her son during a swimming pool baptism, his time was up. Last week Chris and TK were enemies, but last night they were united by their mutual respect for the public health system. [Shortland Street](https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/shortland-street) has burned with the searing heat of Chris Warner’s loins for 30 long years, but last night Ferndale was ravaged by a different kind of fire.
