An 18-year-old allegedly jumped on a tent where a mother and her 3-week-old baby lay, landing on the woman and the baby.

A “Kiwi hero” held the man until police arrived about 10pm and took him into custody, he said. “An 18-year-old man was taken in to custody. And those articles are free. They left hospital about 7am on Sunday, he said. A 3-week-old baby was taken to hospital and a mother was injured after a man allegedly jumped on them as they lay in a tent in a suspected “hate crime” in Christchurch. The baby was taken to hospital but was not injured and the mother had a sore neck and a cut on her foot.
