"I had no idea who Hugh Grant was": Love Actually child stars talk ... (Radio Times)

RadioTimes.com spoke to its child stars Olivia Olson, Will Wadham and Tiffany Boiselle about their experiences filming the popular Christmas rom-com.

"I had a few auditions, none of which I got and I felt that the writing was on the wall there. I think one of the roles I went up for was Master and Commander. I think [Love Actually] just sort of pushed me in the direction that I'm in now." "I suddenly had a lot of attention on me I wasn't prepared for. It's very hard to get used to and I just had a very little taste of it really." "My family went but I couldn't because I was too young to watch it," she says. First time out of the country, first time on a set, in a recording studio, etc," she says. We only ever got a chance to speak over the studio intercom about it, seeing as he recorded in London and I in Los Angeles. "By the most incredible coincidence, just after I moved (to Camberwell), I was leaving my front door and suddenly saw Tom Brodie-Sangster. "I think they weren't sure if they'd get clearance of Jump – the infamous Hugh dancing scene – so there's a version I recorded floating somewhere out there in the ether." "You could hear the other girls singing through the wall [at the open casting] and the three girls in front of me all sang the same song!" "I had just signed with my first agent and this was my first big audition.

'Love Actually's Flaws Make it Lovable, Actually (Collider.com)

Jamie (Colin Firth) falls for his housekeeper despite not speaking the same language. Sam (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) becomes enamored with Joanna (Olivia Olson) ...

And although Sarah is a sympathetic character and Sam is just a kid, the film is still romanticizing the notion of being in love with someone you don’t know in the slightest. Some of the film is moving, some of it is not. Some of it is worth taking seriously, some of it is not. Another wonderful storyline is the love between Daniel (Liam Neeson) and his stepson Sam, who are both mourning the loss of their wife/mom, respectively. Its obvious flaws are typically regarded as such by audiences that are sophisticated enough to understand the differences between real love and movie love, between superficial infatuation and deeply-held commitments. The love shared between rock star Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) and his manager (Gregor Fisher) is not romantic, it’s a long held but unexpressed platonic love between two best friends. Of course, the film is neither entirely about romantic love nor is it even entirely about successful relationships. [Bill Nighy](http://collider.com/tag/bill-nighy) croons in [Love Actually](http://collider.com/tag/love-actually), Christmas is all around, which means it’s become impossible to avoid the polarizing genre of holiday films. (I’m still not sure what the connections are between some of the characters and I don’t think writer/director (For one thing, it is a severe violation of the bro code.) There are also very few meaningful exchanges happening between these couples, especially Jamie and his housekeeper, who do not speak to each other in the same language until the day he proposes to her. Nonetheless, it is hard to argue that Love Actually, at least in the examples listed above, is always portraying love in a healthy way. There is much in this flick to inspire eye-rolling, such as the power imbalance in many of the relationships (boss/secretary, Prime Minister/junior staffer, boss/manager, boss/housekeeper, etc.) and the absurdity of characters allegedly falling in love despite barely knowing or communicating with each other.

Love Actually couples ranked: Who's the best pair in the Christmas ... (Radio Times)

Whether it's Harry's affair with employee Mia or the prime minister's pursuit of tea lady Natalie, RadioTimes.com has ranked all the Love Actually couples.

Meanwhile, Martine McCutcheon is unsurprisingly loveable as Natalie from "the dodgy end of Wandsworth" and completely iconic as the centre of the love triangle between the prime minister and the US president (clearly winter is cuffing season, even for leaders of free world). [Amazon Prime Video](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Actually-Laura-Linney/dp/B00GKX22HA?tag=radtim0b-21&ascsubtag=radiotimes-1759970). [subscribe now](http://radiotimes.com/magazine-subscription?utm_term=evergreen-article). ) as well as the festive Wet Wet Wet parody that's stuck in your head all Christmas season. Freeman and Page may only appear in a few scenes as the professional body doubles who meet whilst filming a sex scene, but they're both incredibly funny and likeable whenever they do pop up on screen. become a pop star and they give you them for free!" Sarah's (Laura Linney) Love Actually story is both heart-breaking and extremely frustrating. However, they're docked a few points for Sam fancying his dead mother's namesake, making the relationship less festive and a bit too Freudian. The only reason Harry and Karen aren't in dead last is because Dame Emma Thompson's Karen deserves so much better than to be sharing a spot on this list with her salivating sleaze-ball husband and his shameless seductress. Juliet and Peter are the second worst couple in Love Actually because they are unbelievably dull. Thanks to Love Actually's Red Nose Day special spin-off, we know Sarah ultimately ends up with Patrick Dempsey so at least her character isn't given a completely tragic ending but the film did starve its audience of what would have been a great sex scene – whilst also robbing that graphic design company's employees of excellent water-cooler gossip. Absolutely nothing – which is why Harry and Mia land at the bottom of this list.

Why 'Love Actually' is more than a holiday movie tradition for me ... (Iowa Capital Dispatch)

If you've never seen it, “Love Actually” follows several characters through nine different interwoven storylines that intersect sometime around Christmas. Each ...

One night about a month before we closed on the house, I decided to show Jon just how serious I was about our commitment. We loved each other in ways no one else had ever loved us, and that was enough. In early 2020, we’d decided to move in together, a decision that was met with approval from all four of our children. We talked about our kids and our jobs, where we’d been and where we wanted to go. As a newly single woman, I needed to feel safe and respected if I was going to put myself out there again. I wasn’t looking for a relationship — with all I’d been through, I thought I’d use the time to decompress, refocus and help my kids navigate their new reality. He had his circle of work friends and I had mine, and aside from the occasional happy hour downtown, we didn’t really spend time socializing with one another. Thompson said, “Love Actually” reminds us that, in “all its messiness, and its unexpectedness, that you’ll find love in the weirdest places.” There had always been a few couples in “Love Actually” that I couldn’t relate to, but at that moment, I connected with Karen. Each story, in its basic form, is about love: first love, unrequited love, the love of a child, lost love, the love of a good friend. I’d just been through a divorce the year before and was still dealing with the aftermath. I loved it so much then, that I saw it twice in one day.

I love the relationship between him and stepfather Daniel, I love that their story crescendoed to the tune of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, and I love that it confirms the ‘Rowan Atkinson Is An Angel’ theory at the airport. I’m a big one for huge romantic gestures and carol-singing your way through London on the off chance that you’ll find the house of the girl you love is up there with my top moment. On early watches of Love Actually, I saw John and Judy as mere comic relief, but they are one of the most wholesome couples in the entire movie. It says a lot about how much I hate Colin and am irritated by Mark that Jamie and Aurelia’s ‘love story’ isn’t in the bottom place of this list. With that in mind, I consider myself somewhat of a Love Actually expert—so who better to walk you through each of the plots? As a Brit, I can’t help but cringe at Colin’s humor and on this year’s rewatch I skipped through every single one of his scenes.

There are some characters who’s houses might be plausible on their salaries – primarily the large family homes of Director of a Design Firm Harry (Alan Rickman) on £67,500 and architect Daniel, on just under £50k. Sure we love to hate it – but we also just love it, and that, friends, is what the magic of Christmas is all about. Amid the unlikelihood of ‘ugly’ Colin travelling to America and immediately bedding a harem of hot ladies and Colin Firth’s Jamie successfully proposing to a woman he’d never even had a conversation with, was that somehow, all the characters seemed to live in housing wildly disproportionate to their salaries.

Love Actually is a 2003 Christmas-themed romantic comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis. This film features Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, ...

He is a part of the film too Love Actually makers deleted a scene of a lesbian headmistress falling in love with a student. As reported by the Independent, “The relationship was between the headmistress (Anne Reid) at the school attended by Karen’s (Emma Thompson) son and her terminally ill partner Geraldine (Frances de la Tour).” However, to cut short the movie, the makers of the film deleted the love scene between the headmistress and Geraldine. Did Harry and Karen stay with Karen together in the future? There was a lot of pressure, and a lot of touring and I battled with exhaustion and felt unwell. Some of the critics have even called out the film as racist. While some criticized the storyline of the film as it has nothing new to offer to the viewers, others pointed out the “lack of diversity” in the film. Love Actually actress Martine McCutcheon however has defended the iconic Christmas film following recent criticism. The film performed well at the box office and earned $246.8 million globally. From the makers of Bridget Jones's Diary and Notting Hill, this romantic comedy is all about love. With just two days to go for the festival of Christmas to arrive, people nowadays are planning how to make their special with their loved ones. If you are wondering what to watch on Christmas, then Love Actually should be in your list.

An essay on farts and 7 other deleted scenes from Love Actually (whynow)

From Sam being a gymnastics star to the cut lesbian lovers, Ada McVean looks at what could have been part Love Actually, a Christmas classic.

It might be for the best this plotline got the axe, but thankfully we got to see this scene. Even the scary headmistress’s life is full of love and loss. Karen and Bernard then meet with the headmistress to discuss his Christmas wish of everyone’s farts being visible. We later see them in bed cuddling and then cut to Karen addressing an auditorium about the Headmistress’ partner Geraldine, who has passed away. I’ve invested a lot of time and emotion into that bottom.” A simple exchange of banter that shows the love between Harry and Karen, that, of course, also makes his betrayal all that more painful. When Harry says he’ll dance with Mia “as long as [her] boyfriend doesn’t mind,” and the camera pans to Mark, it now makes more sense!

As the film returns to cinemas for one night only, the actor reminisces about one of the most beloved and controversial Christmas films of all time.

I’m probably not supposed to talk about it yet but I’m about to film a TV drama about Viagra, and I cannot wait!” What a lovely thing, to go see a Christmas film at the cinema for free.” “The first day I walked into the room for a reading and literally the entire cast was there. Page is promoting a Christmas campaign by the National Lottery, which is giving away cinema tickets to lottery players to see Love Actually at local cinemas today. Gavin and Stacey, she says, was one of the best times of her life, and the cast all still keep in touch. “I absolutely love being a mum and I like being surrounded by all this noise and busyness. Now Joanna, James, Eva (nine), Kit (seven), Noah (six) and Boe (one) are moving to a more modern house, also in Oxfordshire, and the day after we speak will finally get to put up their Christmas tree. She couldn’t believe it when she got the part in Love Actually at the age of 23. He’s so amazing, and Emma’s so amazing, and actually, the idea of a man screwing up in that way and then they don’t always get their comeuppance, that rings true to me. Page is moving house the day we speak and is a bit flustered. Definitely good that that that sort of thing is starting to change, although it’ll be a long road, I think.” In the 2003 film, she stars as “Just” Judy, the adorable girl next door working in the film industry as a sex scene body double, who falls for her equally sweet colleague John (Martin Freeman).
