Palace Insiders Say Prince William Is Already Furious About Prince ... (Vanity Fair)

Prince Harry alleges Prince William attacked him over Meghan Markle in a new excerpt from Spare, his bombshell memoir due out next week.

According to sources close to William, he is furious that Harry has leaked details of their private conversations and the damage that Harry is causing the royal family. While Harry and Meghan were invited to join the royal family for Christmas at Sandringham, William was said to be particularly concerned about the possibility of the couple joining the family for the holiday. It is understood Charles took his sons for a walk around the castle grounds after the service and tried to act as a peacemaker, however, little headway was made and William and Kate were seen leaving shortly afterwards while Harry stayed to spend time with his royal cousins. During the incident, William is said to have called Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” while Harry accused his brother of “parroting the press narrative” about his wife. Harry started writing the book while the Queen was alive, however the release was delayed so that details of the Queen’s funeral could be included in an updated chapter. But according to Harry, things turned physical when William allegedly grabbed Harry by the collar, breaking his necklace and throwing him to the floor.

Prince Harry Is Not Done Talking About His Family (The Cut)

Ahead of his memoir's arrival, Prince Harry sat down for two interviews that suggest he still has a lot to say about his departure from royal life.

He said that while he doesn’t want to hurt his family, he wanted to give the public a “full picture” of their relationship outside what has been reported in the press. “They cleared the windscreen, the windshield [of] the misery of loss,” he told Cooper. Recalling that when he first learned the news, he didn’t cry, Harry said: “I was in shock, you know? On 60 Minutes, Harry talked about the moment he found out that his mother had died in a car crash in Paris, recalling Charles coming into his room and delivering the news. Harry continued to accuse the palace of “leaking and planting stories” about himself and Meghan in his interview with 60 Minutes, describing the process as “using someone else, an unnamed source, to feed in lies or a narrative to a tabloid media that literally radicalizes its readers to then potentially cause harm to my family. He explained that he hoped writing about their rivalry growing up “squashes this idea that somehow my wife was the one that destroyed the relationship between these two brothers.” Harry repeated this claim on 60 Minutes, explaining that Camilla was “dangerous” because she needed to have a transactional relationship with the press. They could only have been leaked by the one other person present.” Harry also suggested that his father and Camilla’s press office fed stories about William and Kate Middleton to tabloids when they were first married noting, [per Hall](https://twitter.com/ellievhall/status/1612205151846293504), that his brother and sister-in-law “went through a large portion of the same things that Meghan and I went through.” In his book, Harry claims William called Meghan “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive” before grabbing him and knocking him on the floor. “Meghan and I have continued to say that we will openly apologize for anything that we did wrong, but every time we ask that question, no one’s telling us the specifics or anything,” he told Cooper. Judging from [leaked excerpts](https://www.thecut.com/2023/01/everything-we-learned-prince-harry-memoir-spare.html) and the numerous interviews he’s done ahead of the book’s arrival, Harry still has a lot to say about how his family treated him both before and after his departure from royal life, and he doesn’t seem to be holding back.

Writing about his time in the war-torn country, Harry noted that soldiers usually don’t know how many people they have killed. The now Californian-based royal said if he saw them as people it would not have been possible to kill them. He did not see his victims as “people” but rather “chess pieces” that had to be taken off the board. He said while completing his service he saw those responsible for the attacks and their sympathisers as “enemies of humanity”. whether I had shot at Taliban and only Taliban, without civilians in the vicinity.

Prince Harry book recalls trauma of Diana's death (BBC News)

The duke's bombshell memoir reveals his grief and anger at losing his trust for his family.

Such was the strangeness and scrutiny of his young life that he says he welcomed serving in Afghanistan. The aftermath of her death seems to have left a divide between Harry and his father, now King Charles. Also previously untold was his account of finding out about Queen Elizabeth's ill-health and death. It was a line used by Barack Obama before he became president - and it runs through this memoir like the writing in a stick of rock. When his plane was coming into land in Scotland he says: "I looked at the BBC website. It's not even past."

Here’s hoping that someone in all of today’s hullabaloo has remembered they might need to tweak their Archewell website, where the tagline still reads, “Leading the way with compassion”. If anyone has had it up to their gullet with the unhappiest prince since Hamlet doing all this soliloquising then avert your eyes and block your ears. Moreover, the man has so far failed to show he can ever accept a lick of responsibility for his actions. I also wanted to issue another, but the staff of the Royal House told me ‘I advise you not to. If Netflix’s nearly six-hour series Harry & Meghan painted Aitch as a bike ride-loving, Californian Dad then Spare, at least what we know of it thanks to those naughty Spanish booksellers, is an unedifying, at times cringe-worthy, journey through the subconscious of a man who seems eternally aggrieved. But Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex has just made history as the first Prince ever truly felled by nothing more sinister than his own pen.

In his book, Harry describes killing 25 Taliban fighters as being like removing chess pieces from a board.

But it is not always possible to count bodies on the ground or to distinguish between someone injured or killed. Lots of people firing roughly in the same direction would make it harder to tell too. And like many military personnel he said he had no interest in keeping count. He said: "This confession shows that the forces of all occupying countries have the same criminal stories." "When I found myself plunged in the heat and confusion of combat I didn't think of those 25 as people. "That's not the case at all.

It's the opposite of the case." Harry's words "were probably ill-judged for two reasons," Kemp said in an interview with Sky News. Richard Kemp, a retired British army officer, also took issue with Harry’s description of Taliban fighters as “chess pieces” removed from the board, telling the same network they “tarnished” his reputation and “unjustly” painted the British Army in a negative light. UK newspaper the Telegraph reports that Prince Harry claims to have killed 25 people while serving with the British army in Afghanistan, saying that in the heat of combat he viewed his targets as “chess pieces” rather than people. On the one side, there is the view that Harry’s account will be damaging to the monarchy and undermines the King at a time when he is trying to show how the institution is modernizing. Many of the networks involved have touted their upcoming appearances over the past week, so – in case you haven’t been able to keep up – here’s a rundown of where you can catch Harry: The pre-recorded sit-down will air during the ABC show on Monday morning, followed in the evening by a half-hour special on ABC News Live from 8:30 p.m. Harry has indicated he would be open to a rapprochement, but it’s hard to see how that’s possible right now in the midst of this massive royal exposé. From the establishment perspective, many will feel that he was afforded an elevated royal role to prevent him feeling like a spare part. Shop owners told PA they expected book deliveries late Monday to avoid copy leaks and one shop confirmed signing a document to ensure the memoir was not put on sale ahead of schedule. At the height of Potter-mania, huge lengths were taken to ensure a spoiler-free experience for J.K. But for it to be dragged into a protracted tit-for-tat with estranged family members could be worse. Not since the release of “Harry Potter” has there been a book publication so hotly anticipated. Measures included publishing staffers being sworn to secrecy, print-facility employees allegedly allowed only to view parts of the book at one time and retailers signing agreements.

What's in Prince Harry's memoir Spare? Here's all we know so far (The Guardian)

Duke of Sussex writes about tussles with his brother, that Nazi uniform, his mother's death, and losing his virginity.

He “watched the concrete pillars flicker past” and “counted them” and counted his heartbeats. “What other reason could there be apart from corruption and coverups being the order of the day?” he writes. Simmering tensions between the Cambridges and the Sussexes came to a head after the Sussexes’ wedding, after Harry and Meghan popped round for tea, according to numerous reports. The trauma of his mother’s death is evident as Harry describes in detail its immediate impact, and his struggle since to come to terms with it. In a trail of an interview for Good Morning America, due to air on Monday, the anchor Michael Strahan asks: “There’s a quote in your book where you refer to your brother as your ‘beloved brother and arch nemesis’. He lay “dazed” before getting up and ordering William to leave. William had felt “tremendous guilt” over “the other woman” whom he had “long harboured suspicions about”. Harry was “the shadow, the support, the plan B”, and believes he was “brought into this world in case something happened”. Prince William was the heir, “whereas I was the spare”, Harry writes, according to reports in Friday’s newspapers. Harry and William told their father they would not stand in the way of his relationship with Camilla, but begged him not to marry her. “Close your eyes and you won’t even feel it,” Harry wrote, according to the Times. He recounts hearing, aged 20, that his father allegedly said to his mother on the day of his birth: “Wonderful!
