Earlier, Spinner Mohammad Nawaz took four wickets to help Pakistan restrict New Zealand to 261 all out Wednesday after opener Devon Conway hit a century in the second day-night international in Karachi. Nawaz finished with 4-38 as New Zealand slumped from a strong 183 for one in 29.5 overs to 206-6, losing five wickets for 23 runs in the space of 40 deliveries. Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first game -- also in Karachi -- by six wickets on Monday. Conway hundred helps spin-heavy New Zealand stun Pakistan (ESPNcricinfo.com)

Sodhi, Santner, Bracewell and Phillips took 5 for 114 in between them to sink the hosts in Karachi.

Williamson was then reprieved twice in a space of four balls in the 22nd over. Williamson was the first to notch up his half-century off 52 balls, with Conway joining him in the same over. With a number of New Zealand fast bowlers absent through injury, Ferguson took the new ball along with Southee and blasted out Imam-ul-Haq with a 153kph bouncer. After [Tim Southee](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/tim-southee-232364)and [Lockie Ferguson](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/lockie-ferguson-493773)made the early incisions in Pakistan's chase of 262, New Zealand spin quartet muzzled the hosts with their subtle variations and forced the series into a decider on Friday. He also stepped up with the ball and ensured there would be no way back for Pakistan, despite Babar's resistance. [Michael Bracewell](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/michael-bracewell-326968), who is more of a batting allrounder for his domestic side Wellington, was the most economical spinner, returning 1 for 29 in his ten overs. [Ish Sodhi](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/ish-sodhi-559066), who returned to the side in place of Henry Shipley, bowled into the pitch and often drew mis-hits from Pakistan's batters. He was responsible for four wickets in New Zealand's collapse of 6 for 37. Babar tried to take the chase as deep as possible, but his men were bowled out in 43 overs. [Glenn Phillips](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/glenn-phillips-823509), who is now a reluctant wicketkeeper because of a back condition, added to New Zealand's spin stocks in an ODI World Cup year, trapping Haris Sohail lbw. [Mitchell Santner](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/mitchell-santner-502714)did his thing by relentlessly attacking the stumps and holding his length back. [Babar Azam](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/babar-azam-348144)offered Pakistan hope with 79 off 114 balls, but could not find a higher gear to keep the asking rate in touch.

Cricket: Devon Conway leads Black Caps to first ODI win in Pakistan ... (New Zealand Herald)

New Zealand's spinners strangled Pakistan on a turning wicket to win the second ODI by 79 runs today and level the three-match series 1-1.

“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to Kane. Losing Finn Allen quite early put us under a little bit of pressure but luckily Kane and I steadied the ship a little bit. So, a lot of credit goes to Kane,” he said. That partnership that Kane and I put on was crucial for the team. Nawaz dismissed Daryl Mithcell, Latham, Glenn Phillips and also knocked back the top of Williamson’s stumps as he conceded just 14 runs in his last five overs and claimed four wickets. Earlier, Naseem yet again gave Pakistan a perfect start when he had Finn Allen dismissed in his first over.

Black Caps level ODI series against Pakistan as Devon Conway ... (Stuff.co.nz)

Century-maker Devon Conway and captain Kane Williamson starred for NZ, who saw off Pakistan despite a worrying collapse.

His 85 came from 100 balls, with 10 fours. Conway’s 101 came from just 92 balls, featuring 13 fours and a six. Williamson won the toss and somewhat surprisingly chose to bat. * Nawaz captured the wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Latham in the 33rd over and then bowled Williamson with a super delivery in his next over. But in game two, he was beaten completely by the drift and turn from Santner for 28 in the 20th over, when he and Babar were looking to set up a foundation for their chase.

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat in the second ODI against Pakistan on Wednesday.

“When the spinners came on, it was turning sharply,” Babar said.

Fired full and outside off, Babar attempts the reverse sweep and does not connect, his back leg was in the crease when he missed but lifts it just for a second to gather his balance and that's when Latham lights up the stumps. Half tracker outside off, Babar had the width to free his arms and he slaps it well over long-off Salman injected some impetus to the innings but he too didn't last long and Babar was left with too much to do with the tail. It offered some assistance in both innings; Pakistan got it to reverse in the first and there was some help for the spinners in the second. The wicket had turn and bounce, it was difficult to take on the spinners and Salman did well to play his shots. He waited for the right time to remove the bails and that has caught Babar's leg in the air. In the end, he was stumped thanks to Latham's smartness and Sodhi took three more balls to finish the game. I have to give a lot of credit to Kane, there was pressure but he kept me calm, told me how to play and ensured I don't throw it away. The ball was coming on differently compared to the first match but credit to the New Zealand spinners as they bowled well. There were a few challenges in both innings and it was good to get the win. We knew it would be a tough chase and we knew we had to execute our plans, get something out of the surface and the spinners did that. The plan between myself and Rizwan was to take the game deep but losing wickets puts pressure on you.
