Why hasn't technology reduced college costs, as many outside observers expected? As you probably know, in most instances, online courses cost the same or ...

The innovations that I call for will require many faculty members to redesign their existing courses and develop new kinds of learning experiences that are more active and experiential. Even relatively modest increases in online course offerings, study abroad and other forms of online or off-campus learning could reduce pressure on existing classroom space and allow campuses to serve more students without any commensurate increases in facilities. To address gaps in understanding or mastery, technology can prompt students to make use of embedded tutorials and facilitate synchronous and asynchronous online study groups and provide ready access to learning support centers. Many of the high-impact practices that enhance student engagement, improve retention, deepen learning and better prepare students for postgraduation success can be taken to scale with technology. Without technology-enabled improvements, costs will continue to rise unsustainably, and the kind of education that is best will ultimately become unmaintainable and unaffordable. Students might analyze online archival resources; transcribe, digitize and annotate primary sources; and create or contribute to virtual exhibitions or online encyclopedias. We now have a host of technology tools that make it easy for students to collaboratively annotate assigned readings, map and visualize data, mine texts and create infographics, podcasts, video stories and virtual exhibits and contribute to a class website or virtual encyclopedia. The more popular campuses could significantly expand the number of students served. The inability to significantly trim costs in higher education stands in stark contrast to the impact of technology on other industries, including publishing. Such an approach obviously requires a team of assistants (who might be advanced undergraduates) to answer questions and support staff to address technical problems. Synchronous, scaled online classes can be more rigorous, more engaging and more interactive than their in-person counterparts. To a very limited extent, for example, in terms of mental health support, this has occurred.

The Future Of Mental Healthcare: The Company Breaking Down ... (Forbes)

As we continue to feel the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, demand for mental healthcare has hit an all-time high. In America, one in five adults ...

It’s a difficult challenge, but over the course of the pandemic, we’ve seen how necessary it is to destigmatize mental health, and that includes in the workplace. We place a big emphasis on our overall digital experience and telemedicine platform and how that influences the entire patient journey. [Prosper Insights & Analytics](https://prosperanalytics.info/) survey, 51% of adults believe their mental well-being has been negatively affected by the pandemic leading to increased feelings of anxiety, depression and loneliness. At the end of the day, we aren’t trying to force patients or clinicians into one setting or the other. From there, your doctor may give you a list of 100 independent mental health clinicians in your area and tell you good luck and to let them know how it goes. We can meet patients where they are while allowing our clinicians to have a more flexible and balanced caseload, which is a Telemedicine has been a game changer in terms of improving convenience and increasing the likelihood that patients will adhere to their care plan. We grew that company to the second largest provider of wound care services in the country and successfully exited it to the only larger competitor in the space. However, we firmly believe that the level of telemedicine services will remain elevated compared to pre-pandemic levels. The healthcare system can be challenging to navigate, and I saw firsthand that access to healthcare (or lack thereof) can dramatically influence someone’s overall mental health. If you had the perseverance to call down that list of 100, maybe 20 would answer. In America, one in five adults suffer from a mental health condition — however, 60% still struggle to access the care that they need.

Israel formally requests 25 F-15 EX from the US: Sources (Breaking Defense)

TEL AVIV — The Israeli Ministry of Defense has officially requested 25 F-15 EX fighters from the US, according to industry sources, but the Israeli air ...

When the IAF made a decision to buy more F-15s and F-35s, it was based on the assumption that in future combat scenarios targets will be protected by advanced air defense systems. Both the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the US Embassy in Jerusalem declined to comment for this report. The IAF currently operates 50 F-15 A/B/C/D variants and 25 F-15 I. The political instability in Israel in recent years forced Israelis to take part in five general elections in less than four years, delaying the official decision on the purchase of the advanced version of the F-15. The IAF wants 25 F-15 EX and in parallel to upgrade its 25 F-15 I variants to the same avionic configuration of the F-15 EX, except for the fly-by-wire system. Letters of request are the first step in the Foreign Military Sale process, after which details on numbers and pricing are negotiated.

Jesse Pinkman And Walter White Return For 'Breaking Bad' Super ... (Forbes)

Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston return as Jesse Pinkman and Walter White for a very special Super Bowl ad.

Jesse and Walter teamed back up for some Breaking Bad moments in the final season of that show as well which was pretty fun. Walter being horrible, Jesse being stupid, the pair’s triumphant cooking spree followed by near disaster, plus a dose of science-saves-the-day to wrap things up. Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston are reprising their roles as Jesse Pinkman and Walter White from the AMC hit drama Breaking Bad during this year’s Superbowl LVII.

Aaron Paul to Reunite With Bryan Cranston for 'Breaking Bad' Super ... (Collider.com)

Popcorners has released a new teaser of their Superbowl ad featuring Aaron Paul reprising his Breaking Bad role as Jesse Pinkman.

Also introduced in Breaking Bad was attorney Saul Goodman, whose portrayal by Bob Odenkirk proved so popular that he was given his own [award-winning spinoff show, ](https://collider.com/better-call-saul-prequel-series/) [Better Call Saul](https://collider.com/better-call-saul-prequel-series/). However, White seems to be the most obvious choice, especially because the previous tease of him holding a bag of PopCorners seems to make it clear that he will be joining Pinkman on a still-unknown adventure. The 17-second clip shows Paul in character as Pinkman, sitting in a desert locale enjoying a bag of PopCorners chips. While a still image of Cranston as White—also known as Heisenberg—was previously released, a new teaser for the advertisement shows Paul back in the saddle as well. It was not officially confirmed that White is the character who will fill the chair next to Pinkman, and it could perhaps be someone else from the Breaking Bad series.

We used to go to a garden centre where everything would be growing in wooden trays in the soil and they’d dig them out and put them in a bit of newspaper for you to take home.” “It was mainly large propagation trays and they can’t be recycled so just end up in the bin.” “The cost was quite eye-watering, but it was the only way of doing it without plastic, and that seemed like a good investment for us.” He promised to make her an old-fashioned one out of wood and glass, although won’t be drawn on exactly when that is likely to happen. She found some coir matting that was labelled as compostable but on closer inspection realised it was encased in a fine plastic mesh to hold it together. Nor do scientists understand enough about the impact of microplastics on our health, although they have been found in people’s lungs and blood, in breast milk and in the placentas of unborn babies. “But now there is research coming out showing that these plastics can affect the germination of seeds,” says Olga. “Or if you get a bit of wind coming through that will mobilise the microplastics, and they’ll fall and deposit on leafy vegetables,” says Grant. This isn’t news to Olga, a research scientist at the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR), or Grant, who is an environmental chemist. “Like pesticides, even if you wash the plant, some of it will remain.” From plant pots and seedling trays to bagged soil mixes and weedmats, every aisle is full of plastic destined to end up in landfill. A trip to the garden centre is never simple for scientists Grant Northcott and Olga Pantos.
