National leader Christopher Luxon says his party is “refreshed and renewed” and promised to “get things done” ahead of an election year.

At Luxon’s first reshuffle, she was given a relatively high ranking of 10. This time, he will hold both portfolios concurrently. National will get things done.” National is that alternative.

Botany MP and National party leader Christopher Luxon has announced a reshuffle of his Parliamentary caucus in preparation for this year's general election.

“However, there are several changes reflecting the hard work and talents of a number of people in the team. “National’s team did an excellent job of holding the Government to account last year and I expect that to continue in 2023, so the changes are limited. “The line-up National will take into the election is a mixture of experience and emerging talent.

Kuriger says no plans to step down after family scandal aired (RNZ)

National MP Barbara Kuriger says she hopes to put the scandal that cost her portfolios behind her.

"What we've said is if you look at where Barbara is she's unranked in our caucus reshuffle at the moment and I think that's entirely appropriate. It is actually a really important portfolio for the National Party, we are incredibly proud of our legacy in conservation It related to the prosecution of her son over animal welfare in 2018. "So it's now up to Barbara to demonstrate that she has the judgement." "It's now up to Barbara to demonstrate to me and to the public that she can be a very good spokesperson." National's new mantra? It's a lot like Let's Do This (The Spinoff)

Christopher Luxon looked full of confidence, but faces criticism for comparing crime in New Zealand with 'the southside of Chicago'.

That Cameron “Whaleoil” Slater and Simon Lusk, stars of National Party Punch and Judy psychodramas of the past, are involved is a mixed blessing for Luxon and the new party president, Sylvia Wood. As far as the rest of the year is concerned, meanwhile, the mantra is clear enough. The remainder of Luxon’s speech majored on the economy, and a pledge to be “single-mindedly focused on a clear set of priorities”. Luxon’s speech followed the announcement earlier in the day of what he called a “limited reshuffle”, and so it was. Another change of note is the return of an “Auckland” portfolio, with Simeon Brown adding responsibility for Super City issues to his existing transport role. In the last survey by Talbot Mills, completed in November, the number of people who thought the country was on the “wrong track” rose from 46% to 49%, with those picking “right track” dropping by about the same margin to 41%.

Letters: Driver madness, refinery closure, threats to democracy, eggs ... (New Zealand Herald)

OPINION: Letters on interest rates, Prince Harry, censors, Ukraine, and recession.

And what do we need to do to solve some of the more challenging social issues that appear to be growing, because if these aren’t tackled we are stuffed. How big do we want the population to be, what are our immigration limits, and what infrastructure do we need to support that population? I struggle with the idea that what is happening in Ukraine must be allowed to continue to the bitter end. It’s got to the point where I have to make serious cuts to my spending in all areas. the EU, Nato and the US, are to blame for the war in Ukraine as much as Russia. Large sums of money to the National Party is called investment. There needs to be a proper regional development strategy - rebuilding industries and communities and spreading the population. All this is just what the “haves” need to make New Zealand a better place for living, working, and profiting. Surely he must agree that Russia began this unprovoked war and that it is up to other countries to assist Ukraine in responding to this state terrorism. The Labour Party gained the treasury benches in 2017 courtesy of Winston Peters’ decision to deny power to the most popular party of that election. According to the Livestock Improvement Corporation, 3.5 million cows produced 12.3 billion litres of milk in 2001, yet in 2021 4.9 million cows (an increase of 40 per cent) managed to produce 21.7 billion litres (an increase of 76 per cent). It seems as if almost every driver simply has to overtake the vehicle in front regardless of the safety of the manoeuvre.
