Rossel shouldn't be blamed for Gryazin's fault (DirtFish)

WRC – Gryazin lost his WRC2 victory on Monte Carlo after Rossel highlighted he cut a corner.

Naturally that will make him unpopular – in school this would make him a ‘grass’ – but the stakes are high and he’d kick himself if it came to Japan and he was within seven points of the title. Not least on the Monte two years earlier where a bucket-load of crews (ironically including Rossel and not Gryazin) were penalized five seconds for cutting an S-bend sequence on SS4. Not Rossel, and not the Monte Carlo Rally stewards. The romantic view of rallying is that taking a minor cut like Gryazin did is clever – that rally driving is about exploiting any advantage you can find. But the intent was exactly the same. But let’s clear one thing up straightaway: anybody who feels Rossel and his PH Sport team were in the wrong here is massively misdirecting their anger.

Head-On Collision Causes, Injuries & Fault (Forbes)

A head on collision is one of the most serious types of car accidents. Learn how head-on collisions happen, who is at fault and what your rights are.

Head-on collisions are usually caused by a driver going the wrong way on a road or crossing a double yellow line into oncoming traffic. So, if a motorist is 1% to blame for causing a head on collision, that driver can’t collect compensation from the person who is 99% at fault. Even when they are survivable, head-on crashes often cause very serious injuries and crash victims should speak with a motor vehicle accident lawyer to determine if they are entitled to compensation. Or you can go to court to get compensation if you cannot reach a settlement agreement. Pure comparative fault states always allow a victim to sue another driver and simply receive reduced compensation if the victim is partly at fault. If you are involved in a head-on accident, you should get legal help right away. Often, just one driver is to blame for a head-on crash. For example, if a motorist is drunk or fatigued and that driver leaves their lane and crashes into another car from the front it causes a head on collision. In some cases, those responsible for designing the roads are at fault if there is inadequate signage or confusing roadways. A head on collision is one of the most serious types of car accidents you can be involved in. Because the two vehicles collide directly in multi-vehicle head-on crashes, head-on collisions produce a substantial amount of force. A head-on collision is a full frontal collision.

Education doesn't have to be one of Florida's defining fault lines ... (Tallahassee.com)

Many communities remain mired in fights about book bannings, critical race theory, and, most recently, a transgender student bathroom ban. There are widespread ...

All submissions may be edited for content, clarity and length, and may also be published by any part of the USA TODAY NETWORK. The initiative has won awards for marshaling the capacities and resources of a wide array of groups, organizations, and residents to put all students on a path to grade level reading. Please include your address for verification purposes only, and if you send a Your Turn, also include a photo and 1-2 line bio of yourself. And education is just the start. Education doesn’t have to be one of society’s defining fault lines. But we need not surrender to division and fear. The community has come together to build the Campaign for Grade Level Reading. But let’s be clear: we can’t talk our way out of the current bind. They sought more after- and out-of-school activities for students; they wanted to rebuild trust between the community, teachers, and school leaders after the pandemic separated them; and they saw a need to expand access to technology for families and students. The conversations included students; parents; local business leaders and nonprofit agencies; healthcare professionals; and clergy. There are widespread school board upheavals across the state; the night before I spoke to residents in Sarasota County this past November, the superintendent was summarily fired. The challenges in Florida are real.

Why Tho? Is my friend's nasty, ugly divorce partly my fault? (oregonlive.com)

I am sure, very occasionally, people get divorced and realize it was the wrong call. So I went through a period when it was particularly bad for her where I felt really responsible because we do have such a close and trusting relationship – I really felt like if I hadn’t been all, “You go girl! She’s an adult woman and she made a choice all on her own. And that was just a boyfriend. archive here.](https://www.oregonlive.com/advice/2022/03/read-more-why-tho.html) No one else’s divorce is your fault (unless maybe you slept with one of them, but even then I would probably say that’s mainly on the people in the relationship). And I was super supportive and encouraging and with her pretty much every step of the way, helping her move out, scanning documents and tracking down paperwork, talking to her lawyer, etc. Remember, she left her husband all on her own. It was pretty clear to everyone (except the husband, apparently) for years that they were very unhappily married, but we also all just kind of accepted that their relationship was like that. Basically, there were so many times along the way where I think if I had been a little less fired up on her behalf, I could have influenced the situation differently. Not even a dog.

December 2022 California earthquake ruptured unknown fault: An ... (temblor)

The quake produced severe shaking in a lightly populated area, brought the southern tip of the Cascadia Subduction Zone slightly closer to failure, ...

Failure is also promoted on a 15.5-miles-long (25-kilometer-long) section of the Mendocino Fault Zone near its junction with the San Andreas, and more strongly along a 15.5-mile-long (25-kilometer-long) section of California’s Little Salmon and Bear River Faults (bottom left). Stein (2010), Coulomb stress interactions among M ≥ 5.9 earthquakes in the Gorda deformation zone and on the Mendocino Fault Zone, Cascadia subduction zone, and northern San Andreas Fault, J. Stein (2020), Long- and short-term stress interaction of the 2019 Ridgecrest sequence and Coulomb-based earthquake forecasts, Bull. A 186-square-mile (300-square-kilometer) section of the Cascadia megathrust fault was also brought closer to failure by about the same amount, and so these are possible sites for future quakes. We find that failure is modestly promoted on a portion of the Cascadia megathrust, a 600-mile (1,000-kilometer)-long fault zone known for its seismic risk to the Pacific Northwest (top left). Rollins and Stein (2010) argued that since the 1970s, earthquakes in the Mendocino Triple Junction have occurred in a kind of chain reaction in which each large quake transferred stress to the site of a subsequent event. This calculation lends additional support to our inference that the easternmost Mendocino Fault was brought closer to failure, as were the Little Salmon Fault and the offshore portion of the Bear River Fault. Ferndale and the surrounding 60-by-60-mile (100-by-100-kilometer) area make up the most seismically active region of California, with one magnitude-6.4 or larger quake every decade, on average. (Left-lateral means if you’re standing on one side of the fault, the other side appears to move to the left; right-lateral, like the San Andreas, is opposite.) The fault cuts across the grain of the mapped surface faults in this region, which are right-lateral and trend northwest (Kelsey and Carver, 1988; Clarke and Carver, 1992). As geologists began to analyze the event, they found landslides and cracks in roads — but no signs of liquefaction or, intriguingly, an obvious rupture at the surface (California Geological Survey, 2022). [Temblor model](https://app.temblor.net/), there’s a 5% chance that a magnitude-6.4 earthquake will occur once per year in this region. Whether advance warning reached those within about 28 miles (45 kilometers) from the epicenter (those who experienced strong shaking) is not yet clear.
