You need to watch the most experimental dinosaur movie on HBO ... (Inverse)

Jurassic Park III saw the series try monster horror. Maybe it shouldn't have. With director Joe Johnston replacing Steven Spielberg, the beloved franchise upped ...

There are traces of creativity in this barebones script, and they’re worth watching now, especially to contrast with the equally boneheaded Jurassic World sequels. It’s only the gift of hindsight, and the inert execution of the successor Jurassic World sequel trilogy, that affords Jurassic Park III any appeal in its modest charms. There’s early promise of quality and ingenuity in the prologue, when a parasailing Eric flies through the clouds and, after an alarming shaking, witnesses the sailors below him mysteriously vanish. Even a scene that meticulously replicates an iconic scene from the 1993 film feels hollow and cheap, no matter how much more expensive it might have been. Still a stickler for the dignity of science (and still unable to connect with kids), Alan is troubled by the dwindling support for his research. Though Johnston has his strengths, evidenced by his overlooked pulp homages The Rocketeer and Captain America: The First Avenger, Jurassic Park III is devoid of his own proven sense of scope, spectacle, and humanity.

The 10 Most Iconic Jurassic Park Vehicles (HotCars)

Jurassic Park isn't strictly a car-based film but still features a fair dose of iconic vehicles and car-based action scenes.

It wasn't a significant feature in the Jurassic Park movies, but it did enjoy an unforgettable cameo in The Lost World film. Chris Pratt's character owns one and rides on it alongside a pack of Velociraptors while hunting the Indominus Rex. Many people find fault with the Jurassic Park III film due to a lack of a formidable human villain and some laughably lousy action scenes. It is perfect for trekking the rugged terrains and has enough cargo area to haul massive dino bones. It combined classic off-road influences with the signature twin-cylinder engine and drop-dead gorgeous retro looks. It is impossible not to admire, and it has featured in video games and movies, including the 2015 Jurassic World. This franchise takes a different approach to car chases, like having a [scary T-Rex in the hot pursuit of a Jeep](https://www.hotcars.com/heres-what-happened-to-the-jeep-wrangler-from-jurassic-park/). The brand has proven its expertise over a century in the heavy-duty transportation sector with purpose-built and rigid trucks that have proven difficult to break. Still, Mercedes thought it wise to add another beast to the family with six wheels and twin rear axles. There are off-road capable lorries and tractors, and then there is the Unimog, a heavy-duty off-road vehicle produced by Daimler AG. The 1969 Pontiac Custom S was a full-size convertible, part of the Pontiac Catalina line, a top-of-the-line model for the General Motors sub-brand. The 15 Best Dinosaur Movies That Aren't Jurassic Park - /Film (/FILM)

If you're ready for a dino-movie marathon but you don't know where to start, check out these 15 best dinosaur movies.

Nearly a century after its release, "King Kong" remains "the eighth wonder of the world." Watch "The VelociPastor" and you will be amazed, you may be appalled, but you will not be bored. This movie has the kind of premise that the "the perfect movie doesn't exi—" meme was invented. In that regard, "The Rite of Spring" segment is the best scene in one of Disney's greatest movies. Many "monster run amok" movies are a dime a dozen, but "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" continues to stand the test of time. However, one of his greatest achievements was the dinosaur film, "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms." Believe it or not, "The Valley of Gwangi" is not "so bad, it's good" — it's just plain good. The best part is that "Planet of Dinosaurs" is a B-list movie (well, more like a D-list movie) that doesn't realize it's bad. If that sounds as wonderful to you as it does to me, you definitely need to watch "Journey to the Center of the Earth." "Journey to the Center of the Earth" from 1959 is exactly what you want from a kitschy sci-fi film from the 1950s: the good guys are heroic, the bad guys are dastardly, and the scope is suitably epic. As you've probably gathered, "Planet of Dinosaurs" is pretty much the polar opposite of "Jurassic Park" on the quality scale. The "dinosaur phase" is pretty much a rite of passage for every child.
