NBA rumors: Kevin Durant traded to Suns by Nets in blockbuster deal (NBC Sports Bay Area)

Kevin Durant is being traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic's Shams Charania reported late Wednesday ...

Durant won't be back for the Suns' home game against the Kings on Feb. Durant helped the Warriors win two NBA titles in 2017 and 2018, and now he will be part of a Phoenix team trying to keep Golden State from repeating as champions. The Suns' addition of Durant comes a day after the Dallas Mavericks officially acquired Kyrie Irving from the Nets.

Nets Agree to Trade Kevin Durant to Phoenix Suns (The New York Times)

The Nets are set to receive a package of players and first-round picks for Durant, just days after trading away Kyrie Irving.

The deal to trade Durant came a day after the N.B.A. The Nets added Durant and Irving in the summer of 2019, expecting the two of them to lead the franchise to a championship — or maybe several championships with a little luck. The Nets never advanced past the Eastern Conference semifinals during Irving and Durant’s time on the team. The team acquired guard James Harden from the Houston Rockets in January 2021 to create a superteam so talented some wondered if it was the greatest team in N.B.A. In exchange for Durant, the Nets will receive the forwards Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson and Jae Crowder, along with four first-round draft picks and the right to swap another first-round pick. “We had a lot of conversations throughout the year of what our futures were going to look like,” Irving said of Durant.

Phoenix Suns wisely swing for fences with historic Kevin Durant trade (Arizona Sports)

The Phoenix Suns have traded for Kevin Durant. It's the biggest transaction in franchise history. Will it get them their first championship?

The cost was Jones ditching his core philosophical belief around the construction of a roster, predominantly built with an emphasis on depth and balance. And when it comes to utilizing this when it matters, Durant is a two-time NBA champion and won Finals MVP with both rings. Yes, I know the shock of his happening is still wearing off you and you think that is a typo probably. Durant will become the best basketball player to put on a Suns jersey over the franchise’s 50-plus years of existence once he dons the purple and orange. The first one featured him outplaying LeBron James at the peak of the king’s powers and the second was a rather uneventful sweep the next year. Durant is the best scorer the game has ever seen. At (a listed) 6-foot-10, Durant’s previously unseen amount of silky skill and talent with his size allows him to get his shot off at any time from any angle on any spot of the floor. If we assemble the 167 times in league history a player has posted at least 28 points a night, Durant’s 67.3 TS% will rank first if it holds, Are you willing to add risk to the equation and better your odds of reaching the end goal? Selling the long term for the short term seems shortsighted when the best two-guard in the world doesn’t even have half of the chapters in his NBA career written yet. It is now or never for the title window with Paul. It is the Suns audibling on their promising future for an even more promising, albeit shorter, present.
