You can also toggle between different viewing times and schedule a reminder for yourselves to go outside and look for the Starlink satellites. On the right, you’ll see a video showing the sky at your location. [Find Starlink](https://findstarlink.com/), available online and as an app, allows you to track nearby satellite chains in three different ways: by city, by your coordinates, or by using the “Live Map” tab. If you add a home location on the map, the site will calculate if and when a specific satellite will pass over you. They also don’t claim to be completely accurate. [Starlink](https://www.starlink.com/) satellites, first launched in 2019, are used to provide broadband internet to customers around the globe. On Darpinian’s site, you can allow the browser to access your location. By doing so, you’ll see a pin drop on a map near the left of your screen. The satellites won’t, however, remain visible for long. The company plans to launch even more: Late last year, the Federal Communications Commission approved SpaceX’s request to deploy 7,500 Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit, Space.com [reports](https://www.space.com/spacex-fcc-approval-7500-starlink-satellites). While they remain at just the right elevation with the correct orientation, the sun will glint off the satellites, It’s the launch that’s most responsible for creating the train of lights so many have seen flying across the sky lately.

NBN warned 'Elon Musk is running rings around you' with Starlink ... (The Australian Financial Review)

NBN Co admitted it had lost 10000 customers to satellite internet operators such as Elon Musk's Starlink.

“That will allow people to move off a sky muster service onto a fixed wireless service and free up bandwidth there,” the CEO said. An earlier version of this story reported that NBN Co chief development officer Gavin Williams had told senate estimates it had lost 10,000 Skymuster customers to LEO satellite operators like Starlink. Mr Williams said, when Skymuster was established, NBN Co had sought out “bleeding edge” technology. NBN Co recognised the “increasing competition” in a pricing paper late last year. for many people living in regional communities, Elon Musk is running rings around you,” she said. NBN chief executive Stephen Rue denied that Skymuster would eventually become obsolete.

"Second, to understand the new era of space technology like Starlink and the balloons. "With everything that's been going on with the balloons being shot down, I immediately was kind of concerned about what I was seeing because I'd never seen the Starlink in person." "What we're seeing is actually a bunch of satellites that were launched last year, in September. The satellites provide Internet to remote communities in 48 countries. The more people will look into the sky, the more they will learn about it, and I think that's helpful to be more aware of what's going on in our near atmosphere, the Earth, but also in the universe." Starlink satellite internet is operated by Elon Musk's spacecraft and rocket launch company, SpaceX.

Liberals complain rural kids can't game on NBN satellites as users ... (The Guardian)

Hollie Hughes says she is surprised only 10000 people had abandoned Sky Muster as NBN executives face Senate estimates.

Stephen Rue, NBN Co’s chief executive, said part of the company’s strategy to improve the satellite service was to move more customers to the fixed wireless service. Williams said he welcomed the advances in technology that now allow for Starlink but said Sky Muster offers its service at a lower price. In Senate estimates on Tuesday night, NBN Co’s regional and remote development manager Gavin Williams said Starlink was having a “modest” impact on Sky Muster.

“One thing Starlink does is charge an upfront charge which is a fair bit to some families, and a monthly fee which is substantial for some families,” he said. “I’m excited that the technology that’s included in Starlink and the other LEO constellations that are being rolled out or planned has been invented, because three years ago this just wasn’t the case,” he said. NBN Co had previously attributed the reduction in Sky Muster numbers to “seasonal” factors, but appears to have changed its tune now that Starlink has gained more of a critical mass of subscribers. Williams said that “on balance” he was happy to see Starlink and other low earth orbit (LEO) constellations progress. Chief development officer for regional and remote, Gavin Williams, told a senate estimates hearing that Sky Muster satellite users had “declined by about 10,000 in the last year or so” in response to a question about Starlink’s impact. “As a matter of record, we publish Sky Muster active premises, and they’ve declined by about 10,000 in the last year or so.”

airBaltic Launches Internal Initiative to Explore Starlink Internet ... (Airline Routes & Ground Services)

airBaltic has announced an internal initiative, aimed at exploring practical use-cases of SpaceX's Starlink in-flight internet connectivity.

airBaltic will work with SpaceX to achieve the required STC (supplemental type certification) approval and is expected to begin installing the product on the entire airBaltic Airbus A220-300 fleet this year. Developed by SpaceX, Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet in over 40 countries and counting around the world and began serving commercial aircraft last year with in-flight high-speed internet. “This will make airBaltic the first airline in Europe to introduce the modern in-flight connectivity, provided by Starlink.”

Therefore, this month we have launched an internal initiative among all teams to brainstorm and come up with different ways to bring benefits – be it from an individual passenger point of view or company-wide. With satellites positioned in low-Earth orbit at an altitude of 550km, over 65 times closer than conventional geostationary satellites, Starlink achieves significantly lower latency and higher transmission speeds for its end-users. The initiative is launched as part of airBaltic’s ideaHub, an already established internal innovation and idea generation system, with one main aim in mind – to improve our passenger service and drive further efficiency within the company.”

To Elon Musk, from MP Dr Shane Reti (The Spinoff)

As the recovery effort continues after Cyclone Gabrielle, one MP has sought help from the second richest man in the world. New Zealanders need help.

This delay is likely shorter than the time it would take for Musk to sort through his mentions, respond, mobilise his team and send a shipment of terminals. The time of need is now in NZ with the worst cyclone in a century. “MP Dr Shane Reti”. Given the different government systems, it’s debatable whether Musk knows what “MP” stands for or means. You heard the call of myself and others and provided Starlink to Tonga in their time of need. The tweet was broadcast into Space(X) at 12.38pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023. In it, he asked Musk to supply Starlink terminals to Tonga to help them get back online. So far, 30 have been sourced and are being distributed as I (and Reti) write. A formal approach to take on the supremely informal platform. The government has undertaken an “enormous logistical effort” to supply basic needs to the thousands of New Zealanders stranded, cut off from the rest of the country – mobilising the army, defence force and emergency response teams. In February, it was confirmed that Musk’s SpaceX had provided 50 Starlink terminals to Tonga, which were distributed to remote islands. In response to the country’s needs, Reti had – presumably in his capacity as a concerned citizen – sent Musk a letter (via email).
