'Addicted to attention': Lidia Thorpe's stunt condemned (Sky News Australia)

Victorian Senator Lidia Thorpe continues to face enormous backlash over her “embarrassing” Mardi Gras stunt.

[resigned from the Greens earlier this month](https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/politics/lidia-thorpes-greens-resignation-over-voice-to-parliament-amps-up-claims-of-division-from-albanese-government-and-coalition/news-story/7dfb7af01e294fec4d835cf1b2f946bc), claiming her colleagues’ position on the Voice to Parliament was “at odds” with her community and activist sentiment. Senator Thorpe quickly took to social media on Sunday to double down on her actions and where she said she was “proud” of her stunt. “Proud to have joined the #PrideInProtest float in Sydney to say #NoPrideInGenocide, #NoPrideInPrisons, and #NoCopsInPride.” Sky News Australia contributor Joel Hildebrand joined the chorus of outrage and said the now-independent Senator’s display was simply an attempt to “get on the news that night”. The former Greens member was removed from the parade after she intentionally blocked a float with her body, laying flat on the ground as she yelled “f*** the police”. Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand has said Lidia Thorpe is “addicted to attention” and is oblivious to how damaging her actions are after the Victorian Senator’s latest stunt.
