Severe tropical cyclone Kevin hits already-devastated Vanuatu (1 News)

On Friday night the Vanuatu Meteorology Service upgraded the tropical cyclone to a category 4 before its power went out.

It says the associated rain bands and strong winds continue to affect the country. The Fiji Meteorology Service says the huge weather system is moving south-east at 24km/h. The Australian Government will deploy a rapid assessment team to survey cyclone damage at the request of the Government of Vanuatu.
