Super Rugby Pacific: Leon MacDonald frustrated with Blues loss to ... (planetrugby.com)

Blues head coach Leon MacDonald was left frustrated with his team's 25-20 loss to the Brumbies in Melbourne last weekend.

We were just a click off in certain areas and the way the Brumbies play, they’re a pressure team, they pressure you in the maul, they pressure you in the air, they pressure you at the breakdown hard and try to force errors, and did that well. He feels the concerns can be fixed but is annoyed the team has to go and fix them. “We weren’t able to do that. “The Brumbies’ maul is a genuine weapon. “We fought back pretty well, but playing with 13 men in the heat is taxing. “It was a pretty frustrating performance overall really.

Blues vs Brumbies Predictions & Tips - Brumbies to get close ... (Free Betting Tips)

Blues vs Brumbies Preview, Tips & Predictions. Brumbies to push Blues to the brink in Super Rugby.

I am backing them to get within 11 points on Sunday with an upset win on the cards. It was far from a perfect performance but their forwards did enough to secure the six-point win. They have been the only side to consistently challenge the New Zealand sides. It almost cost them a place in the playoff, but they managed to just hold onto fourth place. They were strong last year, reaching the final where they lost to the Crusaders. It was a superb start to the season in which they picked up all five available points. - Blues vs Brumbies Predictions I am backing the Brumbies to get within the 11 point handicap. They will have some tough competition, and one of those competitors will be the Brumbies. They met again in the semi-final where it was tight yet again, the Blues being victorious 20-19 on home soil. - Blues beat the Brumbies twice last season Blues vs Brumbies Predictions & Tips - Brumbies to get close against Blues

The Blues, who lost last year's final to the Crusaders, dominated their New Zealand rivals at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday. Winger Mark Telea ran ...

While it’s a tough blow for the Blues, they’ve named a more than handy replacement in Tom Robinson. “I understand that can be taken the wrong way and like in the post (match interview) I apologised, I apologised to the player I did it too as well after the game,” Savea told reporters. “It’s just the heat of the moment mate, it’s a warrior game but I’ve got to lead by example being the skip so I got that wrong. After scoring six tries in the first half, the Chiefs were outplayed by Moana in the second half. “We wanted to come out and impose ourselves against the Highlanders and I think we did a good job. “It was awesome to get the win and more importantly play some footy as the Chiefs played all the footy last weekend,” Mo’unga told Stan Sport. In the opening match of Super Round, the Crusaders were relentless in their pursuit of victory against their South Island rivals. “We know the Brumbies will bring a physical, confronting game and we have been preparing all week to meet that challenge.” Once the full-time siren has sounded, the attention will turn to the final game in Super Round between the Western Force and Queensland Reds. Captain Dalton Papali’i said earlier this week that the team is ready to “meet the challenge” at AAMI Park. After starting their season with an emphatic 40-point win over the Highlanders, the Blues’ championship credentials will be put to the test against the Brumbies in round two. Lonergan scored the Brumbies’ second try of the afternoon from a rolling maul just before half-time. While Slipper was on the field, the Canberra-based outfit won a scrum penalty early in the second-half after overpowering their opponents. Lonergan is also a proven goal-kicker, having scored eight of his sides points off the tee. Halfback Ryan Lonergan was one of the standout performers for the Brumbies last week, and he carried his promising form into Super Round. By the time he went off, as he was replaced by Wallaby A scoreless second 40 saw the Canberra-based outfit hold on for an important win.

Brumbies hold on to beat Blues in Super Rugby classic (Associated Press)

The ACT Brumbies clung to a five-point lead through all of the second half to beat the Auckland-based Blues 25-20 Sunday and stay unbeaten after two rounds ...

The Crusaders opened their season with a shock 31-10 loss to the Hamilton-based Chiefs in Christchurch. After an impressive first half the Chiefs led 38-2 but Moana Pasifika were much more competitive in the second half. “We knew we were going to come here and get a test match caliber game.” The Brumbies ability to hold on at key moments, control the pace and often pin the Blues in their own half was decisive. Robinson stepped a Brumbies defender on halfway, burst into the clear and ran around fullback Tom Wright to score. The Brumbies benefited from a 19-5 penalty count in their favor.

Five things we learnt from Brumbies-Blues (Rugby.com.au)

If you have Daryl Braithwaite singing The Horses on the entertainment menu for the day, you want to see the ACT Brumbies galloping.

White’s pinpoint up-and-under which the Brumbies tapped back to keep possession was typical. Both used the shortside to great advantage. He remains so. Fellow replacement prop Blake Schoupp measured up too. Hooker Lachy Lonergan hit the target in the middle of the lineout with jumper Caderyn Neville and the Brumbies maul went to work. The theming was perfect for Super Round Melbourne and the result was the same with a superb 25-20 triumph over the Auckland-based Blues.
