Auckland Wāhine Toa Embrace Equity For International Women's ... (Scoop.co.nz)

A series of short films featuring some of New Zealand's most inspiring wāhine toa is being launched today to mark International Women's Day.

Auckland is the only New Zealand city to have hosted the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, Rugby World Cup 2021 (Playing in 2022), the International Working Group for Women in Sport 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 – providing the unique opportunity to continue to elevate wāhine and leave an enduring legacy for women and girls. The series explores what hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Auckland means for these wāhine toa, their industries and their communities – whether that’s the opportunity to enhance the profile of Auckland as a destination through the global reach of the tournament (estimated to be over 1.12 billion) or the platform it creates to ensure more equity for women and girls in sport. Led by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, this project is part of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s leverage and legacy programme for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 and will be delivered as a series of bite-size films in the lead-up to the tournament, which kicks off at Eden Park in July.

International Women's Day: Why a diverse green finance sector is ... (edie.net)

To mark International Women's Day (IWD) 2023, edie speaks to three women leaders that are driving change and improving approaches to green finance and ...

“Many organisations are growing their teams and the sector is continually changing, for example, attracting people from different backgrounds for the first time. “We’ve made great strides, but there is clearly a need to continue improving diversity in the finance industry. I believe that progressive mindset within the field has naturally helped provide a more respectful, positive space for women to advance their careers too.” “A huge part of that equity comes down to the way we finance the change. This, in turn, can create a new pipeline of talent for companies to help shape this much-needed just transition. It is, therefore, important that organisations within the sector continue to give opportunities that can help support women with an interest in the sector. In comparison, the broader finance industry has women account for just 19% of C-suite positions, according to a [McKinsey report](https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/financial-services/our-insights/closing-the-gap-leadership-perspectives-on-promoting-women-in-financial-services). “If we’re serious about realising a net-zero transition that works for the broadest possible set of people, then we need to ensure the big decisions are taken by a truly representative group of leaders who benefit from high levels of cognitive diversity as a group. “Women and people from historically marginalised communities know full well what happens when the architects of a system all belong to one group. So there are knock-on, multiplier effects for inclusion and gender more broadly when we succeed in increasing women in the green finance field.” If nations are to realise this vision, then it only makes sense that women are adequately represented in this burgeoning green finance market.
