Warriors vs Grizzlies Picks and Predictions: Memphis Gets It Right ... (Covers.com)

NBA odds, picks, and predictions for the Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies on March 9. NBA betting best bet and free pick analysis.

Golden State’s defensive downtick on the road and offensive aptitude have manifested themselves in a 22-8-1 Over/Under record as a visitor this season. Points were harder to come by the next game against the Lakers, with Memphis shooting just 39% from the field in the 112-103 loss. Without him in the lineup, Memphis lost a pair of games to the L.A. Golden State is a much strong second-half team and the Grizzlies have a net rating of -22.3 in the second half during this three-game skid. That said, the Grizzlies are a much different team in Memphis. They last clashed on January 25 inside the Chase Center, with the Warriors winning 122-120 but just failing to cover as 2.5-point home chalk. Golden State won the first two meetings with Memphis, with both of those victories not surprisingly coming at home. FedExForum is a welcome sight for the Grizzlies, who have been on the road in the midst of the Morant controversy. Their net rating plummets from +7.6 at home to -6.6 on the road, with defense being the biggest culprit. Memphis is the best homecourt defense in terms of advanced rating and that aggressive approach generates 16.2 turnovers per game. Morant’s gun-touting social media post came at a terrible time for Memphis, which is trying to hang on to a Top-4 spot in the Western Conference standings. That’s produced a 39-24-1 record against the first-half spread on the season (second-best), including 21-9-1 1H ATS mark at home.

Brooks went into the body of Green and finished a layup with his left hand as the FedExForum crowd screamed while the two elite defenders stood face to face.

Each of the five Grizzlies starters scored in double figures, led by 22 points from Tyus Jones. The Grizzlies defeated the Warriors 131-110 at FedExForum on Thursday night.

5 seed and creep ever closer to the play-in spots, an unthinkable proposition for the defending champions. Golden State have also now lost three games in a row. Memphis got out to an early 21-point lead in what was a 48-point first quarter, and while Golden State made it close at several points of the night—thanks to a 29-point outing from Stephen Curry—it was never enough to completely climb back into the game.

Steph Curry, Draymond Green graded in Warriors vs. Grizzlies (Golden State of Mind)

Grading Steph Curry, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green, and the rest of the Golden State Warriors in the team's 131-110 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday ...

It wasn’t JMG’s best game, but he did provide the team with some much-needed energy. The team was more disciplined and focused when Iguodala was on the court. he even blocked a pair of shots! In the first quarter of this game the ball got batted out towards the scorer’s table, and looked like it was going to go out of bounds. Maybe his worst since the start of the season. I’m not going to say that Iguodala was great in this game, because that would be ... He attacked the rim. except a Memphis player who hadn’t given up on the play caught up to it while it was still in play, and ended up with a one-on-zero fast break. Thompson was the closest player to it and could have easily grabbed it. which are low, since they’ve been the third-worst defensive team in the league on the road this season. The fact that Curry has played as well as he had these last two games has just made it that much more awful that the Dubs have been mostly non-competitive. They have too much experience and too much talent — even with Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Gary Payton II sidelined — to play like a one-man show.

Dillon Brooks unloads on Draymond Green, even Steph Curry in ... (The Commercial Appeal)

Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks helped his team get a win against the Golden State Warriors, then he responded to Draymond Green.

The Warriors star finished 10-for-19 shooting, but Brooks did most of his work by denying the ball from Curry and fighting through what he called "illegal screens" from the Warriors. Brooks isn't active on social media, so when Green's comments started to go viral, teammates put the video in their group chat, and Brooks watched the entire two-minute clip. Brooks made a layup after a steal over the outstretched arms of Green, so he paused and stood in front of Green as the FedExForum crowd got louder and louder. "I kind of wanted that play just to see what he was going to say," Brooks said. To back up his argument, Brooks said he can do the same stuff Green does, plus score and call out opponent's plays. He called Green's job "easy" and "just showing up to work." Then, Brooks may have thrown a low-blow of his own. And besides, Brooks doesn’t know the address to that place anyway. Among the many things Green said was implying that the Grizzlies will be a better team after Brooks leaves. A tip of the cap to the referees for not giving Brooks and Green offsetting technical fouls when the faceoff finally came. He finished with 14 points on 6-for-15 shooting and six assists, but that wasn’t enough. After all, he started it with his comments in an ESPN story about Green.

Ja Morant calls Memphis Grizzlies after win vs Golden State ... (The Commercial Appeal)

After the Grizzlies defeated the Warriors Thursday, they got a congratulatory call from Ja Morant, who's been away for the last three games.

Coach Taylor Jenkins said Thursday that as Morant continues to get better, there are steps he must clear personally and professionally before he's cleared to return to play. Police in Colorado declined to file charges this week after launching an investigation but the NBA's investigation remains ongoing. Desmond Bane added that Morant said "good win" and he also missed them. Even though he's not with us, he's still with us.
