A husband and wife who have flown over migrating wildebeests and Buddist temples took to the sky in Hamilton as the festival began.

His former boss bought a balloon, and he became part of the crew before gaining his licence in 1989. “We spend three months flying across the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya during the migration of the wildebeest. There are a lot of balloonists who go Uber ballooning - so you take your little balloon out, go flying, you land, pack it away and you Uber back to your car.” “We just take them to the airport and check them in as luggage. We went to the Saga [Japan] balloon festival a couple of years ago and just took it on the plane and the train.” “When you are in a balloon by yourself it's very serene.

Although we missed registering for the Zuru Night Glow this year, we are definitely going to head out for the morning events so that the children can enjoy the Balloons.” The Balloons over Waikato Trust is a non-profit organisation and has been successfully running this event since 1999. Hamiltonians woke up bright and early this morning and welcomed a cold morning with great enthusiasm to what has become an iconic event for the general public on the annual calendar in both Hamilton and the Waikato Region. Balloons over Waikato at the Council supported opening fiesta. Held annually, this five-day iconic event is arguably the most popular in the city.
